In the eyes of many in the world, the USA is defined by the men and women who have served, and are serving, in our armed forces. They not only protect, but project. We are all grateful and indebted...

Don't sell yourself short. I did what I did because I really didn't have a lot of options, not because I was brave, or out of a sense of duty.

Prolly why I feel weird when people say "Thank you for your service". I did it for me, and then my wife and kid... not for anyone else.

Not that I don't appreciate the sentiment, just that it seems misdirected being said to me.

Like MACS I feel more comfortable thanking a Brother or Sister for their service rather than being thanked for mine.I too was selfish........my service was for my family. When I left the service I went right back to work for my country as a contractor....again it was about the $$$$ and taking care of my family.Yet one might ask Am I prideful of my service? You damn right I am.That being said

To All Who Served........THANK YOU
