I called him this morning and asked him what I should be investing in as I feel interest rates are not going to be rising as they did during the late 70's early 80's. So I told him I thought we ought to be looking to get out of bonds and finding a safe haven in which to invest. I asked him, "Should we move to precious metals, foreign currency or what?"

He responded, "If the Democrats are in office much longer, canned goods, water and ammunition are probably your best bet."

You should get a more politically neutral broker. There has got to be something out there that will be a better investment. Interest rates will be rising, but I think way too slowly for a good investment. Bonds suck lately and stocks are a bit scary, but they can give a good yield. I can still remember when banks used to give stuff away and pay good interest on CDs. The banks are making a bundle off people's near free money.

I agree with that statement. I have an account with Navy Federal Credit Union and their "interest rates", if you want to call them that, are less than HALF a percent on my savings and checking. That's straight bullsh*t, and their rates are some of the best.

So banks/credit unions charge you an arm, a leg, and a firstborn child for interest when you borrow from them, then give you a small fraction of it when they borrow from you.

I'm appreciative of my 457 giving me a guaranteed 3.5% in their fixed account. Yes, I know historically the stock markets give a better return, but I am not willing to risk it.

I want to invest in the Fed. They get 6% no matter what.

Of cource, how could the economy work if the working class got the same interest rates as the private banking cartels?

Burner, your broker is a gem. You just stick with him. Have him hook you up with those trickle down funds....

I really long for the days of Jimmy Carter. CD's were paying 7 to 8 percent and life was good. And let's not forget about the consumer loans being through the roof. One could pick-up a mortgage from Fannie Mae for a mere 18 percent. I was lucky and assumed a mortgage in 83 for 11.25 and was happy to do so.

Damn I miss those days!

Brewha, first sentence nailed it. And they don't care what party is in power they own them both.
