I'm moving the first week of December from Virginia to Nevada. I need some advice on the best way to transport my cigars . I will be driving from Virginia to Laughlin Nevada via interstate 40 . The route will take me through Nashville TN , Ft Smith AR , Amarillo TX , and Holbrook AZ . I'll be driving my Jeep an towing a 6x12 trailer. I have 20 or so boxes and a couple hundred loose cigars . I currently have them in various humidors and 3 large tupperdors . I'd like suggestions for transporting them . I'm planning on taking 5 days to drive it if it takes longer it takes longer. Any suggestions as to what I should do to safely move my cigars is appreciated.

Place them very carefully in your Jeep or your trailer.

I'd invest in a large cooler or two.
It helps with insulation (temp control).
I'd put them in the Jeep with me, and bring them into the Hotel room too.
Get some stackable tupperware baskets for the cooler(s) for your loose ones.

^^^ Yup, that's what I'd do too except I'd leave everything in their current containers (...assuming they all fit...) ^^^

Had one Valet turn my cooler on end trying to load it onto the luggage cart even after I told him it was full of cigars. I could have choked him. Caused a lot of damage to the cigars.

One more thing - get a cooler with wheels, so much easier if you're taking them in and out of your room each day.

Try to drive at night so that they can sleep so they don't bother you. Give each their own space to avoid conflict. Let them watch videos or play video games and turn up the music. Make sure you don't accidentally leave any at rest stops. Whenever they say "Are we there yet?" respond with "Not yet, we will be there soon enough!"

Put them in a cooler on the passenger seat. Make sure you put the seatbelt on them.

Put them in a cooler, put it in your trailer and just drive. When you get to the destination, unpack.

Cigars spend a week in the back of a UPS semi-trailer to get from the East coast to the West coast when someone out there buys them. They spend weeks in a shipping container getting into this country from DR/Nic/Hon etc. 5 days in a cooler with proper humidity devices isn't going to hurt them. If you want to go all super duper protective, then put them in zip lock bags before putting them in the cooler.

If you pack them properly they will be fine for a week, even up to two weeks. Once you get to your new place, get them properly humidified just how you like them. Let them sit for a few days before you go back to your regular rotation. Pack a separate box with a two to three week supply (your fix) that you go all out with the boveda packs to maintain in perfect condition. You should be covered.

BTW - I would follow Jules' directions to a tee! Great advice.[sarcasm]

As to shipment, Roaring.Rodent is spot on.

Pack 'em into cardboard boxes and ship them via UPS to Laughlin. It'll be a race to see if you can beat them there.

Thanks everyone. I was thinking the same thing about how UPS would handle them . I thought I would ask anyway . I was having one of those "I know what to do ? I think " moments . Lol

I'm hoping the move won't be to stressful. I've planned what I can and the rest will be whatever it is . I'll work on getting that address to.everyone once I move . Really I will.

I just used the dead Sea scrolls as packing around my faberge egg collection .
