Well after an hour long visit with one of my 4 doctors I have been seeing on a regular basis for a couple of years I have decided that my health is more important than nicotine. Basically I have to make some significant lifestyle changes if I want to be around a bit longer.

Went I quit buying last year I was up around 1500 cigars. I have 2-3 hundred left. Most of them have been resting at 65% for at least 18 months or more.

If you're interested, send me a pm with a cell number and I'll send you pics of what's left. I'd like a fair trade of wallet candelas for them. Not looking to sell to the highest bidder. Just a fair trade. Also, I'd like to send out a minimum of 10 per box to keep the shipping costs down.

There are a couple of folks who have sent me some gifts. I plan to send them back if you guys want. I'll send a pm letting you know they are inbound.

Sure hope your lifestyle changes make a difference for you, Anthony. I was just contemplating this morning what it might mean to quit cigars. Decided that for now, I'll trade a couple/few years for the opportunity to continue enjoying them. Seriously. Good luck. Believe you have my nbr -- I'll take a look at what you have...though I certainly don't 'need' any cigars.

Sorry to hear that Anthony but I do wish you a healthy future. I am sure some on here will be itching to get a piece of your collection.

Sorry to hear Anthony but I certainly respect and admire your decision. Hope you are better as a decision like this does not come out of the blue.
I am sure you have a great collection of cigars. I just do not need any at this time.

Just because you are not smoking does not mean you have to leave this forum. It would be a much different place without your input and opinions.
Eric.

Don't worry Eric I'm not going anywhere. I'll still post though not as frequently as before. I'm spending 1-2 hours a day n the gym. In the last 2 months I shed 25 lbs of belly fat. Ive got at least 35 more to go. Last night I took a kick boxing and a Krav Maga class. I've lost 6 pounds just this past week.

Generally it's better to make a change because you want to, not because you have to. Glad to hear that your changes will be positive and that you're already doing something about it. Also glad that you won't be going away.

Totally support you, Anthony.

Last Winter I decided to stop buying and smoke down/gift the couple hundred I had. Finally hit "E" a few weeks ago, except for an AF Hemmie Masterpeice I got from Mikey a long time ago that I have been saving. I will ash that baby this weekend while making latkes at the end of the garage for the family Chanukkah party.

Now I may not have quit, just want to take a break and reassess what they mean to me. Truthfully, there have been no urges like 20 years ago when I quit cigs as cigars were more of a planned event, but that plan became more frequent due to evening boredom and knowing I had so many. And though I still enjoyed them, there was not quite as much pleasure nor as much flavor happening since I started to smoke one almost every day.

So it's good to know I can control cigars rather than it being an addiction. I will probably buy one or two at a time as wanted going forward, but won't be storing/ageing/collecting.

What are you experiencing when it comes to urges?

edit: I did get a 5er from a split with Fiddler last Spring.

Thanks Frank. I've been slowing down a bit anyway. I was smoking 3-5 a day for a few years. Just recently I would smoke 1-2 a day, then over that last month I doubt I've smoked more than 4 or 5.

About a month ago I got the news of one of my diseases. At that point I made a huge lifestyle change. That Dr. who is a specialist referred me to another specialist within an extremely narrow field. It was at that appointment that I realized I was going to give up cigars. Then on the way home my wife said something that made perfect sense. So instead of keeping a handful of special cigars they are all going.
