The top 10 cigars of the year (according to CA) are out, with #1 being listed as the MF 1922 le bijou box pressed torpedo... I had them start carrying them at the local, so I've sampled a few... I've also tried it in a few other vitolas and preferred all of them to the torpedo... It's a great cigar IMO, I just really dislike the box pressed torpedo vitola...

I prefer the Petit rob to the torp myself, also had more construction issues with the torps.

Advertising Budget = Rankings

Look at how much of the content is dedicated to luxury goods v. actual cigar content.

CA = Sell Out

Did you ever bother to read how they actually test cigars?

"Normally, it takes ⅓ to ½ of the cigar to develop its natural flavors. That’s how much we generally smoke. It’s the most practical way to produce as many cigar reviews as we do. We rate around 75 cigars per issue of Cigar Aficionado, which comes out 6 times a year, plus entire brand verticals and new releases in the Cigar Insider, which we put out about every other week."

Senior Editor - Greg Mottola

Now I'm not saying the 1922 LB is a bad cigar (personally prefer the PR) just that there are better sources for reviews of cigars...

Not a big 1922 LB fan. Haven't had one in awhile. Maybe there is one hiding in the Humi.

Is that the one with the orange footband?

I am talking about the reg one. I believe it just had the dual bands up top. The lower one said "le Bijou 1922". I thing the footband one is the Connie or a special release.

PR for me too. When they first came out they seemed to need 6-12 months rest. Now they're pretty much ROTT.

I usually smoke the Toro, hardly ever ROTT. Nice cigar, not sure it's worth the extra $ to me over the MF #3. But I like most of the MF stuff, and smoke a lot of it, so I have no issue with CA's selection. The pick that had me SMH was the CAO Flathead ... but we know how much ad space General Cigar buys.

FWIW, the CA effect has already taken hold on CBid ... somebody is bidding $79 each on 2 5ers of the box-pressed tarps. SRP is under 60 bucks, so he's pretty far over retail even in a high-tax state. I guess he wants them really bad.

It’s all of those rich guys taunting us. Money means nothing to them. They read the threads here and laugh. It is sick. They light their cigars with $100 bills.

The new release. Old PR's didn't have footbands

I've had mixed results. Bought a few a year (give or take) back & was not impressed. Smoked one last week that had some time to rest, amazing. Mine had the orange ribbon on the foot.

To me, any LB with some age are great. I was very sad when I smoked the last of a box of churchills that I had for 4+ years.

Not impressed with ratings and reviews - too subjective. There are several rated cigars I've smoked that I would never smoke again.

Just looked, current bid for a fiver is at $101.00!!! You gotta be kidding, I buy them at my local for 12 bucks. And the auction doesn't end until tomorrow. Great cigar, but not at that price
