I've been reading the forums recently, and it seems like a great community. I just started getting into cigars about four months ago, and have been loving it. After finding this site, I'm already building a wineador (I have a tendency to really jump into things). Anyways, I was looking for advice on some cigars to keep an eye out for and try. I've really been liking the medium to full body ones, but I'm open to all ideas. Being such a short time my list isn't that long, but my favorites have been Padron Anniversary, LFD Camroon Cabinet, and Nat Sherman Timeless. Definitely looking forward to some input to experience more.

i think a lot depends on your budget and your planned cigar frequency. a weekend smoke with a normal budget leaves every option under the sun open. heck, smoke an opus a saturday if it is in your wheel house. a daily cigar during a period of stagnant to shrinking wages might leave you looking for a little more of a bargain.

the padron x000 series in natural or maduro are a nice, consistent stick that i find myself grabbing when i don't want to have to think too hard but you can't find them on here
i have enjoyed the la sirenas, original my fathers, la flor dominicanas, a flores serie privada habano/maduro, oliva v, oliva mb3 and arturo fuente anejos as of late (amongst many many others)

but i really enjoy buying a fiver of something i have read good reviews about (or sometimes mixed reviews if the price is right) but never tried, having a few friends over with a nice bourbon and all smoking them together and comparing notes. my little group has had our share of hits and misses but its always fun. and if something is so awful we only make it through a third we always have a back up plan. we try various things at different price points but these are not cigars (especially some of the bargain basement ones) that i would try on a night where i am chilling on the porch by myself. a bad cigar when you are alone is truly an awful experience.

Strangely enough, my girlfriend is fine with me smoking them. Though she did make a comment about my b&m owner being on a first name basis with me already. Ive grabbed a few samplers and 5 packs from here, but with all the options it's nice to get input from others. A few of those mentioned are in my humidor now, others I will definitely be looking for.

I work retail, so it's been crazy now. Have been restricted to about 3 times per week, but that will be increasing with more time off shortly. And those patron x000 series have been some of the better tasting under $10 sticks I have smoked so far.

And frankj, I definitely plan on doing that once I've been here a little longer since it says 2 month activity first.

I have a bunch of cigars but trading has really gotten in the nooks and crannies!

Welcome to the asylum, Jrc. Hope you get some rest after the holiday shopping rush. Enjoy a good cigar.

I recommend you keep trying different things, getting samplers or 5ers, keeping your budget in mind. Research the kinds of tobaccos used to make the ones you like and try others similarly made. After awhile, if you're like most of us, you'll tire of smoking the same thing...then repeat the process with other types of tobaccos. Do some trades...it's a good way to try different things and to get acquainted with some pretty good people. Over time, you'll find some faves that you buy repeatedly. One desktop humidor will be too small at this point. Advice: RUN!!!

If you stick it out (pun intended) you'll need more storage space. If you get here, go BIG!!! When that happens, that's the time to buy boxes, which gives you the best price per cigar. Box-splits with cigar enthusiasts you'll have met along the way are also recommended. You'll also need more storage space...

Cigars can be enjoyed from both ends of the economic spectrum, but obviously one side gives you many more options.

And if you feel like dropping roughly 20 bucks on a stick... My absolute favorite of all time is the fuente opus X lost city (seriously. These are my special occasion smokes. I had one when I left the marine core, one when my little sister got married, one when my niece was born, and one when I got a huge promotion.) That said I highly recommend grabbing a couple of these and a good port.

Rob- you lose 2 points every time you mention Gurkha here - lots of haters..
