So I always wanted to dabble with cigars. So a friend of mine turned me onto cigars international and gourmet flavor infused sampler some months ago. I enjoyed about half of the sticks with the kuba acids and the Java being my favorite.. I have ordered this sampler for the third time and purchased a few different sticks going by the daily deals and popular smokes. now I'm finding myself not like the flavor infused smokes as much and the none flavored.. I enjoy the don pepin Blues... I like the Rocky Patel Edicion Unico Toro my girlfriend but me the Genesis the project 6pacl with the ashtray as a gift. She paid 19$ shipped so naturally I thought they would be **** but I really enjoyed them for them and will be ordering more.. I have started becoming particular with what I smoke depending on what I am doing in my mood. In my option I think that that is a step in the right direction in this hobby although I couldn't tell you what I like about them or what kind a leaf or tobacco leaf was in them(such as The origin).. I am very timid when it comes to trying something new. I was hoping you guy who are way more experienced then myself could recommend some new smokes for me. Even when I go into my local cigar shops I get a little anxious to leave and not ask them questions. I smoke 2-5 a week, and enjoy a nice smoke on my last run of the day back to my yard(I run a local dump truck out of NYC). I find cigars a relaxing thing for me where I can unwind, I just would like to broaden my spectrum Thank in advanced. Merry Christmas guys..

Welcome to the group. There are many types of cigars out there. My personal favorites right now would be Tatuaje line. The Don pepin blue is also very good. Drew estate (makers of acids/java) also have a line of non-infused cigars, specifically Liga Privada (some premium $10+ sticks, as well as some around $5-10 on here) which is also very good. The project from genesis is a good smoke and can be bought for pretty cheap (boxes on sale often).

I recommend you jump into the nOOb PIB thread and send someone smokes and ask for smokes in return. You will get to try a lot of smokes you might not have thought about doing this. That is an awesome way to find cigars you like. occasionally someone will send something they like (but you might not be to fond of), however more times than not good smokes get traded around and you get ideas of what you like....

It is overwhelming to get started, and frustrating trying to figure out what to smoke to expand your horizon.

If you like the DPG blue, start there and try other My Father cigars. The Flor de Las antillas, Le Bijou, and La antiguidad are all great smokes. You'd be hard pressed to find anything they make that isn't worth while. I believe there is or at least used to be, a MF sampler on here.

At least you learned early that you cant always judge a cigar by its price tag, an expensive lesson at times. definitely off to a good start and I wouldn't say no to very many cigars at first until you find out what flavor profile you like and keep in mind it might take a while as your like may shift after a time. bought a few boxes when I first found my flavor profile and now I barely touch them as they are not in my wheel house any more. this is why Danmdevries hit it on the head that "It is overwhelming to get started, and frustrating trying to figure out what to smoke to expand your horizon.' and second you jumping on the noob PIB to get in on that fun!

Start with some samplers. Avoid box purchases for now. Once you figure out what you like you can consider a box. Get on the noob trade run by Fishinguitarman on the trade tab.

Don't stop burning Gurkhas though, just don't smoke'em!

Check out subscribing to something like halfwheel too, it can be informative and you can dig through archive articles as well and their reviews are decent.
Don't make purchases based solely on ad copy, they all make every cigar sound like chart toppers.
