I want this bumper sticker. Its pretty much what I used to say to my infantry friends when they'd be bragging about "One shot One Kill"
I was Army Fire Support. I remember one day in particular, we were at a pre-basic event for new national guard recruits and everyone was talking about their jobs. It was me, an infantry friend, a truck driver and a mechanic. Everyone was trying to one up the others while talking to a group of people and it went something like this:
Truck Drivers: Well I bring supplies, food, and equipment to everyone. Who signed up to be a truck driver?
(Few kids raise their hands)
Mechanic: He cant do his job If I don't take care of his vehicle, who signed up to be a mechanic?
(A few others raise theres)
Infantry Friend: YEA WELL, I Go on the front lines and combat our enemies, I believe in one shot one kill, Who's badass enough to have signed up for Infantry?
(Ton of hands go up)
Me: *chuckle*
IF: Whats so funny, Bick?
Me: One Shot one kill, that's all?
IF: YEA? SO?
Me: I am a member of the Eyes of Death, the line of sight for the King of The battle, Field Artillery. Unlike my Infantry friend here, I believe in One Shot Ten Kills, anything less is a waste of rounds. I am an Army Fire Support Specialist. Who here is coming to join me?
(Two... Two Kids raise their hands)
Me: Well.... dang... fair enough. You two kids 21? No? Never mind then, was going to invite you out for drinks.
Was it a bit out of line? Yes. Hilarious? Also yes. I have nothing but respect for my brother in arms, but just like any family, you have to give them grief from time to time.
