Who used to make these about say mid to late 90s , early 2000s?
They're detain lyrics different than they were back when.

I meant they're certainly different than they were back then.

I don't think you'd need to be too baked to make it out opelmanta, maybe mildly.

I think the politically correct answer here is that the difference is due to the change in the leaf as the years passed.

David WOULD NOT accept that, and I think it was at this point where the trouble started that eventually got him banned.

Personally, I smoked MANY of the OR purple banded Morados, and they were much better than the "new packaging cigars", so I would have to side with David on this one.

No it didn't. It's the same blend, (just new packaging) . . . or at least that's what CBid told dpnewell. [sarcasm]

David WOULD NOT accept that, and I think it was at this point where the trouble started that eventually got him banned.

Personally, I smoked MANY of the OR purple banded Morados, and they were much better than the "new packaging cigars", so I would have to side with David on this one.

I doubt the trouble with DP started there. It really takes a special kind of stupid to get perma-banned from a discount cigar website over the cigars.

He wasn't technically perma-banned (some say he was murdered), but it really did all start over the la perla morado... The shady business practices of gerka didn't help...

I stand corrected on the perma-ban part as I was just informed by another long standing member here that dp was in fact, not perma-banned, but rather chose not to come back when his ban was lifted.

Yup... I think there was an initial glitch showing he was banned until something like 2020, but it was explained to be an error... But in fairness to Dave, it's hard to choose to come back when you're dead...

Rest in peace dp... Gone but not forgotten...

It seems to me that just about every cigar that gets a blend change or a new tobacco crop is not as good as the original. Has anyone ever heard of the opposite happening ?

The blend and vitolas changed, the Black Pearl was only one type of cigar not a line, came in a small double perfecto, Gran Belicoso...
