DSL, by nature, is far more limited in speed than cable internet. I've had charter in the past, and as much as I dislike them, I would use charter over frontier any day. Frontier is just awful and has absolutely terrible speeds.

worked for Rochester Telephone late 80's which became Frontier in 1995 upon deregulation. Located in Rochester NY. Was a great gig until Global Crossing bought Frontier out. Global went bankrupt and the business has never been the same.

Have Time Warner for everything now and that has its good and bad days but I can vouch that their customer svc and response to issues has greatly improved. Way too fu*%'n expensive tho.🌫

DSL speeds are much more dependent on where you are on the line and who else is currently on line. So if you surf the net in the wee hours of the morning, its often not too bad. I almost went with a Frontier package a couple of weeks ago, but a lack of pricing clarity and a last minute extra cost declaration ended that.

If you want to know your internet speed - check it at: speedtest.net/

Me too!

I worked as a network engineer at the Southfield MI site monitoring the Frame Relay/ATM networks and was the POC for larger customers like NSA and other carriers. Was a really great workplace and the transferred me back to Florida to help maintain SLA's in Tampa because the numbers were so terrible and customer retention was falling like Ben Carson ' approval ratings.

Funny thing is that I got a call from 2 different recruiting agencies wanting to know if I'd go back and work for them. So far it was contract to hire, but I told them a direct hire I'd listen hard to the offer.

Love that site. And it is very dependant on traffic in addition to top bandwidth being lower than cable. So even though cable internet is pricier, and depending on company more of a pain to deal with, certainly far worth it for the speed boost. If you are doing any type of streaming, the resolution downgrade from a slower DSL connection can be frustrating.

Now if you are the only one in the household visiting websites on one device, this does not really matter as much.

and.........for full disclosure...

The Frontier Field Tech guy who did our install........total pro who knows his shyte.....so he gets and "A".

Frontier Tech Support ......eh.......they're just shmos following a script, with most being slightly incompetent......I know more about this stuff than every one of those people I've talked to.................... save one guy, a smart nerdy dude from Jersey who really knew his craft and helped me with a work-around a few months back........they get a "C", but it's not their fault really.

Billing/Accounts - total cluster-fuq morons working here, who over charged me THREE times ($60, $30, $30, ).....initial set-up, AND the first two monthly bills.......wasted my time on the phone clearing things up...........they get a "D-"............should be an F, but at least they adjusted their mistakes, and have now finally got my monthly bill correct.

Sales? - worse than Billing/Accounts.......over promise, don't know their offerings, mis-represent or fail to mention additional " handling fees", etc.........a big F for them.

We'll have to get together for a cigar on da beach once the weather gets better.

(No, I don't want to go "camping"......)

...and guess who got recruited to work for them today?

That's right...ME!

They want me in a NOC supervisory role...cross your fingers...money is right and I'd be going back to a decent company.

We were in Crescent City and Brookings the weekend before last looking at the sink hole.
