Just got the Taurus PT11 G2, took it to the range today. Got to say, impressive for 279 dollars. Fired 200 rounds, mixed brands, Winchester, Federal, tulammo, etc. No malfunctions at all. And the gun shoots great, nice groups at 15 yards, and manageable recoil for rapid fire. Just my 2 cents

^^ sounds like a good pistol....

Taurus is a decent firearm...

just don't get a "HighPoint" 9mm pistol....they have the tolerances of a $3.99 Stanley brass door hand sliding latch...

Berretta, Sig Sauer and Browning are

excellent firearms.

There is a cool CHEAP BRAND?/TECH? name??) pistol that is in a class of it's own....

A pistol chambered in .22 magnum

W/ a 30-32?

round magazine and picattany rails...

I am getting better with my glock 43 every time I shoot it.

The link is to the ultimate glock meltdown. I really like this guys series of run til they fail vids on guns, really shows what a gun can take before it fails. The full auto Ar-15 is a good vid also.

I just purchased my first gun this past Friday. I've never owned a gun before so this was a big deal for me. I took a gun savvy friend along but he kind of just observed until I found a gun that felt right to me. Then I looked at my friend and told him that I thought that I found the one I wanted but I needed to know if it was a good gun. I knew the brand but not the particular model. He gave it a good recommendtion and I bought it.

I applied for my carry permit and should have it soon. I won't actually carry until I'm 100% comfortable the gun and my ability to carry it responsibly.

I did a lot of reading and research about gun ownership before I bought and the decision to buy was a long time coming. I also got a lot of good adsvice from a couple of friends that carry.

Good for you.

Can I ask what reasons prompted you to buying your first gun?

#7 - a testament to Glock pistols. They are not designed to fire like that and he just kept putting rounds through it.

Even though I've never owned a gun before I've always been a big 2nd Amendent supporter. Since I didn't grow up with guns I never really felt the desire or need to own one.

Events in recent years have changed my mind. I'm not a right wing conspiracist but things have changed a lot in my 55 years. I sat my wife down about a year ago and told her I was going to buy a hand gun and get licensed to carry. I laid out all the reasons and told her that I'd like her to get licensed eventually also. She was all on board.

As a husband and a Dad to three kids I feel that it is my responsibilty to my Family to be ready just in case. Yeah.... I hoped that I would never feel this way but I do. Being naive won't keep my Family safe if we find ourselves in a bad situation.

So...... personal and Family protection is the short answer.

43 will be my next purchase and my first Glock.

Friends who know guns that I let shoot my H&K don't believe how many rounds I've put through it. Most modern firearms are extremely reliable, manufacturing processes, design and metallurgy have come a long ways.

Bought a S&W mp9 (not the compact) couple weeks ago, love it. First time shooting it hit four in the bullseye.

I've owned pretty much every frame size they make, save for the new single stacks, and didn't like any of them. Not for their utility/performance, they all worked well. I just don't like the way they feel in my hands, the grip angle is wrong, and I prefer hammer fired DA/SA semi autos like my Sigs and HK. Have a few Berettas as well, but the grip on those is too chunky, even the new PX4s.

I prefer wheelguns mostly. Have a few semiautos but rarely shoot em. My PPS is the only one that gets carried or shot regularly (and the only striker fired gun I own), and that's just because it carries better on a belt than my LCR. I love my 1911's but rarely carry them except when getting dressed up, and even then I'll holster a wood stocked revolver most of the time.

For the OP, Taurus has come a long way in quality, but I still don't trust em. When I was a gun noob I had a few, a 1911, a Beretta 92 clone, a Beretta 21 clone, and a 1st gen PT111. All but the 111 functioned flawlessly, but had less than ideal triggers and the 1911 was overly picky with ammo and magazines - par for the course with most budget 1911's. The PT111 did not like a full magazine, had to load one shy of full for it to reliably extract and feed after the first shot. Could've sent it back under warranty but opted to just trade it for another taurus, a 94 that I still own and have put a few thousand rounds through without issue (though the DA trigger pull is ridiculously long and heavy - SA is fine)

But... they work.

I've not seen one that didn't.

They're heavy as heck, poorly made, abysmal triggers, ...but they work. If someone wants a nightstand gun and doesn't have much money, could do a lot worse in the sub 200 market.

Ron I've fired many glocks. 17, 19, 26 converted to 10mm and a newer generation full size with a suppressor. I like them fine, though the trigger is weird to me. Not hard to shoot for ms, I've just fired so many rounds in my H&K.

Just an update: got about 1000 rounds through that Taurus now, and no issues. Gun just works, and pretty accurate for a 3.2 inch barrel. I have owned Berettas, SW, etc. I know Taurus is on the low end, but I am really pleased with this one. BTW, for all the Glock fanboys, I have shot 6 or 7 diff models, and I understand the loyalty and love they get from their owners, I just don't like the feel/ grip angle of them, sorry
