Went into the local B&M for some butane. Although I don't buy many cigars there, I do, on occasion, pick up an (usually overpriced) single of something want to try before ordering on-line.

As enter into the fairly big walk-in humi, I am confronted by a big box of cigars with a sign that says 1/2 off Cigars with "Bloom." A quick scan of the humi-room shows that ALL of the cigars on the lower shelf - and about half on the second to lowest shelf - no matter the make or size -not just the ones tossed in the box - all have the same "bloom" on them. Easy 40+ different boxes, all "bloomed!"

Mentioned this to the young girl working the counter and she said "yeah the owner said they were having trouble with the humidifier, they have ordered a new one."

Rushed home and took a shower. Contemplating burning the clothes I was wearing....

"THBBT!"

What, just a good sign of a well-aged vintage cigar collection. Some BOTL must have died and his widow gave all his cigars to the shop to sell.

Skeered for some N00Bs that go in there and possibly get sick or screw up what little stock they have.

don't be afraid of the bloom. those things will taste amazing. you should have bought the whole lot of them

On my last trip to Florida I stopped at a shpo in Knoxville, TN area on the recommendation of someone.

Walked in the humidor and it reeked like an old leaky basement full of socks.

At least half the stock had white fuzz. Some box lids were even covered. There was a humidifier (like the ones you put in a sick kids room) just billowing clouds into the humidor.

The shpo and humidor were crowded with people buying furry cigars.
