14 years with my company and now without a job.

I was let go yesterday, nothing I did, performance-billing per account is actually better than most other regions, due to the overall volume in my region my position is being eliminated.

Never mind I was taken out of my region for three weeks every quarter assisting with 2 other regions as we were searching for new people. My area will be divided and given to people they hired for those other regions.

Mmmmmm. What?

So the dinosaur that clients respect, someone that can offer the confidence of stability, knowledge and passion wasn’t given additional accounts but the people that I covered for and trained get mine.

Out with old in with the young.

Hi-Ho!

Itswaldo:

here it is ....

plain and simple....

these new "young bucks" ARE F#CKING RUTHLESS

and could care less about baby boomers ( or anyone over 45-50).....

In "my line of work" ...I was guarenteed safety and security on a well earned and deserved work performance record.... w/ no actual records or file....

the very old and super trust worthy allies pass away

literally .... and then YOU GET SCREWED by idiots trying to make a name for themselves....

That's when E-ssurance and bigtime mutual destruction come in real nice ....that you put in place

WELL IN ADVANCE.....LIKE I DID....

NOW,

on your level....

think about how exactly ... YOU CAN SCREW THESE

YOUNG F#CKTARDS OVER?

discreetly and from a distance....

do that to the fullest extent...

and go on your merry way WITH GREAT SATISFACTION....

IN any job...when you find dirt...document it and

plan a failsafe "post delivery system"...

^^^ it worked for me....

in spades... but my situation may be different

than yours....

mold it to your own needs and devices....

Sorry to hear itsawaldo...values in the workplace seem to be evolving...knowledge, experience, helpfulness, passion and loyalty are relics of times past...at least the job market is rebounding and may offer some opportunities for someone with your qualifications...ask some of the former customers with whom you had a great relationship. I'd caution against throwing grenades...that may backfire and cast a negative light on you. Plenty of great people (me) have been dumped and landed on their feet.

Been going on for 20-30 years now. Like Delta said it's strictly the bottom line with most firms anymore. No loyalty, no matter how your performance has helped the firm in the past.

Been bought out twice and just lucky that they offered a buy out at all. Good luck with your next adventure.

Thanks guys!

Today's been a rollercoaster, relief (way too much stress), disbelief and lots of good wishes from clients and friends.

I'm going to be 62 this summer, something like this is never at a good time but next year would be better, IMHO.

No burning bridges with me, never know who I'll be working for or working for me. So far they are playing nice buying me out, negotiations have begun.

Really appriciate all the support!

Tough break ! For some reason companies nowadays seem to like hiring the young ones. It's no wonder that incompetence seems to be at record levels.

Best of luck for future endeavors!

It happened to me towards the of 2007. After 17+ years working at this company, they "downsized" about a dozen of us "old timers"- gave my job to a temp worker at a 1/3 of the pay. Heard they had issues with the replacements performance, no knowledge of position etc... Oh well. And about a year later they just left with no warning or explanation.

Anyway, I now work at a great small company close to home (Only 3 miles one way from home instead of 35 miles one way), a little less money but I am much happier in my work. Everything happens for a reason.

As my dad has told me for years- Don't let the bast ards get you down!

Man that sucks.

Another vote for working for your old competition.

Retirement costs less than working if you can possibly swing it, I bailed early and have never looked back.

I always said, "I work for money, if you want loyalty, hire a dog."
