Anyone have one, or ever shoot one?

I don't really "need" one...........but dang it........I keep looking at it.

I've looked at other lever .357s, but keep coming back to the Henry, although the Marlin looks pretty sweet as well.

Go Henry!

If possible, match the caliber to your handgun.

I'm not a fan of levers. Had the Marlin 94 in 44. Stock split at the rear screw, and the sight moved down the tooless ramp after a few shots. Marlin fixed the stock, and I sold it.

Love the Henrys

Have three; two of the 22's, a standard and a golden and a brass big boy in 357, though it rarely gets shot. Think I've had it out once since new. It's just really nice to look at.

I prefer revolvers to start, and load my own, so the big boy was a no brainer. Lever action isn't my favorite, prefer bolt, but Henry makes a fine rifle.

Henry make a fine levergun, Marlin used to do that, however since the Freedom group, (Remington, Bushmaster, Para Ordinance and others) bought them their quality has taken a downturn.

Isn't the Marlin tube fed also?

Nothing beats the traditional look of the Big Boy Henry with its brass receiver and heavy 20" octagon barrel (18-1/2 with Marlin). Most of the members at our Club that shoot SASS use Henry's.

Also consider the Uberti 1873 by Cimarron Arms and Benelli. Also popular with SASS competitors.

You'll be glad you spent the few extra bucks over the Marlin.

The Big Boy Henry is also available in steel.

Uberti offers an old-school case colored receiver, which I like. Uberti also offers the lighter 44-40 caliber, and barrels from 16-1/2 up to 24" for sport shooting.

For heavy use in the field and hunting, I always look at stainless. Then consider the Marlin or Rossi.

Guess it will depends on your intended use.

Yes, but it has a loading gate in the receiver, the Henry loads through a hole in the tube exposed when you unlock and pull out the magazine follower or through the end of the magazine if you pull out the follower.

Uberti make some fine replicas of several lever guns, some are sold under the Cimarron, American Western names, even Beretta has them make their single action pistols and a copy of the Colt Lightning slide action rifle, another great choice. I have a .45 Colt Lightning with the American Western label, an excellent rifle and the only inexpensive way for me to own a classic Colt rifle.
