So I'm brand-spankin' new to the world of cigars I've built my tupperdor, accumulated a small collection of sticks and have been smoking through a bunch of 'em to figure out what I like. While I'm still developing my palate, I'm sure of one thing in particular, I'm garbage at lighting one up with a matchstick.

I'm not saying that I've given up on matches, but I definitely wanna invest in a dedicated cigar lighter and I could use some suggestions.

I'd like something with as close to the features listed here:
- Triple or quad flame
- A switch that's not near the flame
- Fuel window
- Pocketable/Portable
- Quality made, perhaps with a warranty
Not important, but would be nice:
- Brushed, silver, chrome, gunmetal, black
- Simple/minimalist looking. I'm not too fond of carrying a see-through neon green and carbon fiber handheld Decepticon.

I don't care much for any built-in punch tools either, I just want a nice, sleek, dependable lighter in the ~$50 range.

Any suggestions?

Find a xikar lighter with what you want, ive never had an issue with any of them and a lifetime waranty. Or get a ronson jet light for 4$ but they're only a single flame.

Jet Line lighters are cheap and dependable.
Watch the auctions . . . they are ALWAYS available.

If you buy an expensive lighter, you'll just feel bad when you inevitably lose it !

I only use Jet Liner or Xikar. Warranty on Xikar rocks. I have a couple and just get them replaced at the local if something goes wrong. Well worth a lifetime lighter IMO.

I use a Bugatti B-2002, dual flame.

It's almost always windy where I smoke. Does the trick. Can't use matches.

A (good) match or cedar stick is elegant and definatly worth learning how to do.

But for daily smoking - which for me is mostly outside - the Jet Line is my choice. I like the 3 jet ones with the clear tank for the butane so you can easily see how much juice left. I like the full clear tank, just a window not enough for me.

Others like Xihar are also great but i travel a lot so losing them always a worry.

Xikar has nice stuff and a great warranty, tends to be a bit more expensive but worth it. The Xikar Tech is a good basic triple-flame lighter ... mostly plastic, but OK capacity, solid mechanism, and an excellent adjustment wheel. I've had one in my golf bag for years and it has been very reliable. The body is translucent, so it's easy to tell if it needs to be refilled.

I've had a couple Jet Lines crap out on me. Others report good experiences with them. My local shpo stopped carrying them because of too many returns.

My personal favorite for a nice inexpensive lighter is the Bugatti CEO ... large tank, triple flame, made by Lotus, decent finish. MSRP was Stupid Money (like $100) but you can usually find one here for $16 or so. I have a couple and have given a couple as gifts. The recipients seemed to like them, and AFAIK the lighters are still working.

I also like the Lotus Black Label Kronos -- triple flame, OK capacity, nice finish. They show up on here occasionally in the $19 range. FWIW, my local outfit replaced their Jet Line stuff with Lotus ... now they basically sell Lotus brands (Vertigo and Lotus) and Xikar. The one thing I have found about the Lotus lighters is that they seem to need to be bled a little more often than other lighters I've had. I don't know if that's a design thing or my own ineptitude.
