World War I .....was a brutal.
Those "up and over the top" charges through
"NO MAN'S LAND" with shell craters and barbed wire
Was a virtual death sentence....
I wonder how those 18 year olds felt?
Coming over green as h#ll ,
Going to the frontlines, getting shelled,
Then the next day they order you to charge over the top....
That is so amazing that they even did it...
I don't think anybody ever made it through more than 5 of those charges other than the commanders...most of the soldiers... never made it through one....
