We've been discussing this question for ages now...

Once you've bought a box of cigars... cello on or cello off...

It's really your choice...but ... it can help with aging the cigar...how is that you ask...

Well... if you leave the cello on...you can write the date on each cigar so you'll know exactly how long they've been in the humidor...

If you take the cello off..or if they come "naked"... then use a marker an just write the date right on the cigar itself...

I always write mine near the head of the cigar. The silver paint gives the final third far more complexity.

I hope some of these guys wrap their sticks in cello when they go camping together

I always thought youre supposed to carve the date of purchase into the cigar wrapper with a sharp knife. Thanks for enlightening me.

Darker wrappers I use white out, let it dry and then just write on it like normal. Most of the time though I just rewrap my cigars with Saran Wrap it keeps the moisture in keeping the cigar from drying out which allows me to store all my cigars in my truck.

Do u soak them in a bucket of soapy water first? Just to make sure they don't dry out when u leave them in your truck through the summer?

Sound advice, I tried using a wood burner pen, but that idea went up in smoke.

As a Noob, at least on the forums, I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate the selfless advice. In fact, I think I'm going to go out and buy lots of really expensive cigars so that I can try all of the amazing tidbits you have been sharing with us Noobs. I am so grateful. (And greatfull too)

He'll no are you crazy? The soap washes off the oils, I have found Normal saline works best. I'll cut open an iv bag across the top to make a pouch. Empty all but 2oz of saline and fill it with my cigars and tape it shut. Keeps them fresh and moist and doesn't alter the taste.

Do you suppose that's how Rodrigo cigars get that salty flavor?

I thought the trick was to leave the cigars in the basement near the window. But only if they are super premium

As a N00B, I want to make sure I get all this straight.
I dont want to miss a thing, so if I missed anything please let me know.

Here goes...

It all starts with the most expensive super premium cigars, preferably ones that you overbid on and paid more than MSRP.
You take the cello off of half, and leave the cello on the other half, or the other way around, it doesn't matter.
You soak a wooden toothpick in distilled water or vinegar overnight and then shove it up the middle of the cigar. Can be smoked with the toothpick in.
Before putting them in the humidor make sure to mark the date on the cigar with the most toxic permanent maker you can find, dont worry its not any worse then the huffing you did in high school. Or you can carve the date in the side of the cigar with an exacto knife. Store the cigars in a humidor in the dankest dampest part of your basement under a leaky window for additional humidity control.

When ready to smoke, grab cigar firmly and twist to open cap, or light from other end. Then poke 15-20 pinholes in sides of cigars to ensure a better draw.
Pre-burn your lips with superhot coffee to make sure that the hot spots wont bother you. Put cigar between your scalded lips, tip your head back and aim cigar at the sun and puff away. Might take a little longer on a cloudy day. Keep glass of water handy in case the hot spots get to much for your pre-blistered lips, you can always dunk the cigar in the cup of water before aiming it at the sun again to relight.

Wow, I've learned so much on these forums, one day I'm going to grow up to be an expert cigar smoker.

Make sure to spray a little brake cleaner or other solvent on the cigar to remove the oil so the permanent marker will write better

Oh can I add to that lost the burrito bomb? When you know that cigar won't give enough hit for you, before you light it take a razor blade and cut it straight down the middle. Now take a cigarette cut the filter off and place inside thencigar. If you need to remove some of the tobacco from the middle of the cigar so it will fit (don't worry they put the worst tobacco in the middle since it burns the hottest). Now fold it back together, you have to options, smoking it like a taco, or take some old wrapper left from another cigar you smoked and wrap it back, or a small line of glue. The glue takes longer as you have to wait for it to dry.

These are all great suggestions, I wonder why Tank never told us about these. I'm disappointed, I thought he knew everything about smoking premium cigars.

Duct tape works wonders and gives off a heavy "fragrant" smoke.

OMG, thats such a GREAT idea. I have to try duct tape in all the different colors. I wonder if they give off different flavors. I cant wait to try the red tape, I hope it tastes like cherry.
