Curious what/why do yall smoke cigars?

I know for me there's always been something about smoking a cigar, rather the Manliness of it, or relaxation and escape. I've been smoking cigars for 18 years now, most of which I've been the guy to stop in a cigar shop and buy 2-3 cigars and that's it. A year ago I bought my first box. Anyways...duck it I'm gonna unload my world....I started drinking more and more, I entered the craft beer scene and started drinking craft beer like most people drink budlight on a weekend. 2 years I had bought my ex girlfriend a ring in intent to propose, a month latter we broke up. About 6 months ago I finally realized how out of control I let things get. I stopped excessively drinking, and found cigars help me avoid drinking heavly. Last 3 months I've been studying for a promotional test, which I didn't do as good as I wanted but that's life. Last 3 weeks of studying I let my sister watch my dog, I let her watch him for so long to help her out. I work 24hr shifts, the day I got off work (6:30 am) to drive 45 mins to pick my boy up she calls and tells me he passed away (this happened June 20th, and probably why I started posting to much last 3 weeks). Anyways enough of all this talk....I've realized I can sit down and escape from the world. It's like every puff carry's away stress, a worry, or a problem. I forget how shifty things can be and completely clear my mind. I always try to make others around me happy, when I sit down and smoke a cigar, is one of the few times I try and make myself happy. I think about the work that went in that cigar so I can sit there for an hour or so. I admire the craftsmanship of the cigar, looking it over and admiring the work that was put it. I light it up and pay attention to the burn, the taste, everything. I forget it's 90 degrees outside, I just let the cigar take me away. Sorry for such a random off the wall post. And I know it's not well written, I just write as it comes to my head. Peace out and good night.

Sorry to hear of the recent struggles Mike. Life can be a motherducker sometimes. Though I definitely still drink, I have also significantly curbed my drinking with cigars. Taking time to appreciate things and relax makes for a happier life, cigars definitely fall into all of that.

Is this sarcasm, or a thank you for the giant wall of text? If so your welcome I gave you a reason to smoke.

I find the time with a couple of cigar very relaxing. I suffer from P.T.S.D., anxiety, and after smoking a couple of cigars I feel relaxed. I do not feel I need to justify this thing I have done over 50 year to anyone, who does not contribute to gthe cost of my cigars.

I smoke to forget about the daily struggles that a lot of us suffer through. I find that for an hour or two all of the stress is lifted off of you. You are able to be one with the cigar if that makes sense.

It does...before I retired, smoking a cigar was one way to relax after work, to take my mind off projects, people and problems. I also played tennis, but then my knees gave out. Now, I enjoy sitting alone with a cigar...ruminating, staring at the stars, thinking about things, reading...

The other side of the coin is that cigars enhance social occasions, and sometimes are the reasons for special occasions. My son and SIL and his brother smoke cigars, as do many of their friends and relatives. We smoke cigars when we have gatherings. I've met two fine gentlemen, MACS and Palama, both CBidders through cigars. The cigars we smoked on those occasions were amazing...

A stress reliever.......My XO on my second ship taught me the joys of a fine cigar.Nothing like sitting on the fantail a thousand miles from land with every star in the sky brighter than Las Vegas on fight night. He also taught me the joys of whiskey.......when I smoke these days I want bourbon and sometimes I drink enough to see stars.Glad you gave up the juice but I Sir am not a quitter.

On that note I think I'll fire up a Fuente King B and pour me some of the leftover Jim Beam Black from last nights escapades.

I should have probably fixed what I said...I quiet drinking craft beer completely to study, now I hate the craft beer scene, but do enjoy my whiskey. And I "try" to only drink in moderation like 1 or 2 drinks.

Uncle Sam's Misguided Children. The other thing I recently received thank to my VA Shrink is an electronic magic box. It is called an Alfa Stimulator the darn thing helps me sleep at night, helps with anxiety, helps with arthritis pain, and last help the P.T.S.D.

The Departmet of Veterains Affair is making a big push to get Veterians off of hard drugs, so they are trying alternate therapies. The Afla Stimulator is a wonderful tool.
