Ditto everything Ashton (including VSG and ESG) and Davidoff makes. Same exact opinion, bland and expensive.

No sarcasm here; I'm completely serious. Several of my cigar pals have the exact same opinion about those brands, too. None of us understand why anybody ever buys them, especially at their typical high prices.

Many other guys, however, love them. Palates differ a lot, it seems.

That's all the Opus is really just a good solid Dominican that does it's job. The flavors are subtle but distinguishable. At the end of the day it's a really good Dominican, that's it. Davidoff is much the same way but is usually a bit more sweet.

I'm a huge fan of Nicaraguan tobacco as well as Costa Rican. To me they both have way more flavor than Dominicans. Costa Rican tobacco always seems to hit me with a certain fruitiness and Nicaraguan tobacco is always earthy. But still in that category I'd shell out the money for a Padron Anniversario or a 1926.eSG

I'm just at that point to where I don't want to screw around and just want a smoke that's consistant every time.
