I'm headed to a 3 day retreat with a bunch of CIO's and IT execs from my region. I'm not a CIO, but am attending with mine. There is apparently a hidden item on the agenda: Cigar time in the evenings. I know what I will bring for me. I know what I like so far in my noobishness. Considering what to bring to share, however. Any tips/guidelines?

This question definitely depends on your budget and what you enjoy. I agree with Drafter, don't share a cigar you don't like.

Still, suggestions:
RoMa Craft Intemperance is a flavorful, mild-medium smoke. Foundation's El Gueguense (wah-WEN-say) is a master stroke of tobacco genius blended by the guy who designed the original Ligas for DE. Both are excellent sharing cigars; they're high quality smokes that few people know, and they're easily enjoyed by a range of smokers.

More well known is Le Bijou from My Father. High quality, great taste, all that good stuff.

On the cheaper end, Fonsecas are great for the money. So are PDR 1878. I like the Oscura from that line, nice and strong with a heavy layer of chocolate ane coffee notes.

whether it turns out to be good or a rocket dog, when smoking with a few other folks, i always like to bring multiple of the same cigar and compare notes

in fact, even though i have certain "go to" cigars i really like, i most enjoy trying new things (at all price ranges) with my little group

even if it sucks it usually turns out to be a decent experience with different people picking up different notes (assuming they have at least minimal baseline knowledge).

just bring a nice beverage as a compliment

Not a good idea to hand a slightly drunk cigar noob a MF LeBijou.

Fuente, Padron, MF, DE, La Palina, Tatuaje, and some mild Montecristos

Arturo Fuente 8-5-8s are a good cigar for something like that. It has a recognized name and tends to be a reliable good smoke.

Truth that extends beyond cigars.

But since tastes/preferences are different, isn't there a chance that one person's favorite might be another's dog-rocket?

For example, my Noob go-to is Cuba Libre One. Love 'em. Love 'em as much as some of the $$$ sticks I've gotten at my local B&M shop. Love how cheap I can get them on CBid. But I'm sure they are dog-rockety for some segments of the cigar smoking population.

Perhaps the trick is to follow the brand/series guidelines in your suggestions and then make sure I like 'em. Might minimize the potential for dog-rocketyness.

I like Zs choice because of his reasoning plus they have a ton of flavor in them. Only problem is they aren't always easy to come by at a B&M I have to get mine from the old interwebs...dayum them internet cigars
