Hello All........names Taylor, I'm new to Cigar Bid. Spent all my Christmas money in the last few days on here buying a few sticks. In the past I have smoked off n on, but in the last few months it's really growing on me. Had a 5 pack travel humidor but since have bought 2/25-50 count humidors. I normally purchase my sticks from the local shop n recently visited a local lounge, but now I have discovered this site......my local shops will be missing me. My favorite stick right now is the Olivia Serie V Melanio Figurado.

Waste of time and money...........well..........you'll end up using one for a dry box.
Just go buy a cooler and beads now..............you'll thank me later.
Don't put any sticks in there though.............just cigars, and if you must, smokes, and maybe stogies, but no sticks.

No need for a cooler. Just get a big, transparent Sterilite (or equivalent) plastic storage tub with the handles that pivot up and lock the lid in place. You can see your stash and read the hygrometer's display, all without ever opening the container.

A cooler won't protect you from summer heat anyway, it'll just slow down its onset. You still need external temperature control (like A/C or being in a cool basement, or whatever) to protect against sustained heat.

All a cooler does is "buffer out" the effects of sudden spikes and dips in temperature, which for most people are not really a problem.

If you don't have that specific problem, Sterilite tubs are much cheaper, more spacious, and transparent.

An old-timer turned me onto the idea back when I was just starting out. I'm sure glad he did! It saved me lots of expense and trouble!

Lol..........no sticks fellas, I promise. I was looking into that "Tupador Setup" and it looks very simple....was planing on using the 2 hums for display n also make a Tupador also.

Just get it over with and buy a 70qt cooler...

I saw that online. So a cooler, leave them in the box they are shipped in and just put wet beads in a stocking and plastic container, place that container inside the cooler and that's it. That damn simple. Wish I would have known that before spending money on all this other stuff.

Yeah most of us all started with the elaborate humidor setups too and don't get me wrong. There's no better feeling than hearing the swoosh of a nice desktop humidor and seeing your favorite gems neatly arranged between slats of spanish cedar. It's been a year since I've been on cbid and it didn't take but three months to fill up my original 50ct humidor, a 90ct humidor, and a 150 upright display. If I would have known to just get a $16 48qt Igloo Island breeze I would have done it the instant I got on the site. But then again, I like nice things.

Thanks.......looks like that other one I ordered is going back and I will get me a nice igloo. I was worrying about space already, but know a cooler it is........I have a gift card to bass pro shop and now can put it to good use. Thanks fellas.

If you want to splurge, build a wineador!

Totally worth it.

Then you can have your sticks in there by chopping them up and making shelves out of them!

Get yourself a big ass cooler to store your CIGARS.

@CACMAN...........me and my boys call them sticks, while on this site I will refer to them as CIGARS, lol.

The MEN here refer to them with the proper nomenclature.
You can smoke a cigar! But you can't smoke a stick! However a stick can be used to smoke a cigar, tobacco, or other leaf.

Welcome aboard. I would have given you chit but since you are a fan of the Olivia I'll give you a pass.

Just so you know most of the regulars in here are collectors/hoarders. Like you I started out with a 25 ct humidor. From there I bought a 250 ct Treasure Dome. When it filled I added a 48qt Steriite. Finally growing out of those I picked up a 3000 ct tower and filled it up. To say this is an addicting pastime is a huge understatement. Then I quit buying for about a year or so and smoked 3/4 of my stock. Was about to start buying again when I was diagnosed with a health condition that smoking who make more severe. So I sold everything that was left to BOTL who is also a member of this community. Now I keep a handful of Premiuns in. Ziploc bag with a Boveda for my occasional enjoyment.

Btw, my collection even in its heyday was small compared to others who are a part of this community. There are a few members here who have walk in humidor in their homes. Another member had a collection of full furniture sized humidors. My advice is to make sure you know how to p in the tall grass because you are running with some big dogs.

Explain this........I've read to season a humidor with a sponge and water. The instructions that came in the set up said not to do that. On the net "INTERNET" some say wipe it down, others say not to. What have you experienced with this.
