looking for some information on prices to expect at a local lounge. Im sorry if this has already been covered but my searches turned up nothing.

I frequent a lounge in my area that is fairly new (within the last 6 or 7 years) and I think it is incredibly important to support local shops. I also enjoy cigars indoors during the winters, as apartment living isnt conducive to having an area to smoke in.

This shop is not allowed to sell any food or beverages due to the highly restricted tobacco laws in my area, so I understand that the prices of the smokes need to cover all their overhead of running a business, but the prices I have seen lead me to ask everyone their experiences.

for example:
- undercrown shade robusto ~$13
- hoyo la amistad gordo ~$15
- Camacho Connecticut corona ~$14

The reason these prices even seemed high to me is because I enjoyed a Davidoff Escurio gran toro for $17 and a drink of whiskey at a different local place, which happens to be about twice as far from me.

B&M (Brick and Mortar lounge) prices, when compared to CigarBid prices, can usually be summed up as "bend over, no lube provided".

I used to go to them. Not anymore. In the summer I smoke outside, and in the winter I have suitable indoor spaces for smoking. I dunno, dgo....seems steep....but then again, as you acknowledge, you're willing to pay for more than the cost of a cigar. I don't know where you are or what effect taxes have in your area....but, if you get decent proprietor (knowledgeable would be a big plus), good clientele to shoot the **** with, maybe a TV, 'comfortable seating', heated indoor place to smoke, climate that makes it near impossible to smoke outside....well, an extra 3-8 bucks per cigar might not seem unreasonable

If I go to a lounge I will usually buy a cigar from them (nothing extravagant) and then smoke the cigar I take to the lounge. They don't usually care if you do that. I would expect that if it is a lounge compared to a B&m with a smoking area that you will pay 20-30% more than at a regular b&m.

I wouldnt even consider it a B&M, its main business is having customers smoke there, their humidor may have 25 different smokes to choose from, but they are one of 3 places in the greater Boston area that you can smoke indoors, and the only place where they forbid cigarettes in the lounge.

The lounge that is further away is called federal cigar in portsmouth,nh. It is an incredible place, but an hour and half from work and about an hour from home. They make real drinks there and they have a small but fairly diverse cigar selection.

They are still making a profit off you. Usually I ask. I also don't tend to buy a cigar and smoke it right away. I give them a few months rest in the humidor. Like I said, I tend to ask them. "Hey, do you mind if I smoke mine instead of this one, I like to let them rest in my humidor before smoking them?" You will probably get a positive reply.

The way I always figured it was you should always be a regular and when you want to smoke your own. Either pay for a locker or buy cigars at the price level of the cigar you want to smoke. We don't have much use for cigar lounges here in Houston in regard to the weather and there's gotta be more substance for me to enjoy them now. They're not allowed to serve alcohol which I think is dumb. I remember how much I loved downing street back when I was 21 and how shortsighted the city was for coming down so strict on cigar bars.

I tend to travel a lot and don't have a lounge near me. Never had a problem at B&Ms with smoking areas or bars that have their own. As long as you ask.

I like Cbid prices, but, there alot of really great cigars that I have never seen show up on Cbid, at least not in the last 4 months. For instance, alot of LFD's, LFD Colorado Oscuro, or LFD Box Press IV, Vieja seldom show up, like the 558. I would buy these cigars from Cbid along with my regular purchases if available.

The one thing about my local shop is that they have a reward points program. 1 point for every dollar spent, and you receive different discounts at certain increments. My last purchase totaled about $125, then they ask if I wanted to use my points, took $50 off.

Ed (Walpole), Joe (Mashpee) and I(Randolph) are well south of you but Fiddler is east of you in Beverly and Bucky is west of you in Gardner...

one or both of them may know of places halfway between where you are and where they each live.
