Dam... that looks like i can live in it. Let me rephrase the question.

My close friend for some reason is taking a trip to cuba for fun at the end of January. he offered to bring me back some CC's. And so i ask, if you had to get a box of CC from Cuba, which one would it be? I only ask since i have never had CC's since i started seriously smoking about 2 years ago.

Some i had in mind were, Ramon Allones, Partagas, Hoyo, Cohiba, Monte. Wonder if they have a sampler? Anyway, he says he is going to havana and then vinales.

That rule has changed. They just charge you duties on the excess now.

I'm sure there is some upper limit, like don't try to bring back a master case, but just keep it within reason and I suspect you would be fine. The same as bringing back stuff from any other country.

I had a buddy just get back and brought a ton without any hassle at all.

Except for the Parti 160's - you have to go there for those.

There is no longer a limit. Travellers are permitted to bring back as much rum, cigars etc. as one can carry, for personal use of course.
For my $.02, I would would definitely stock up on custom rolled cigars from one or more of the well known rollers like Reynaldo, Jorge
Lopez, Alex etc. Would also seek out some RE's and LE's.
As has been previously stated, most others can be procured online.

There is no limit any longer. For my money it gets no better than Behike. It is difficult to find LEs in Cuba. My parents visited last month, and the local stores had no LEs in stock (in the city of Trinidad). That's not to say that stores in larger cities won't have them. Anyway, careful getting custom rolled cigars from local rollers. I had my parents bring me back a case of custom rolled ($2 a piece) from Trinidad (area is major producer of tobacco) and they had nothing but chopped tobacco in them - what I can assume to be floor sweepings or leftovers. They smelled moldy when I got them, so I decided to dissect one. Stick with the famous rollers like SRH1 said.

Anyways, I ordered two boxes of Behike this month from a buddy who is there now. Hopefully they turn out to be the real deal.

This because they are not easily obtainable here. I was unaware that the rule had changed yet again myself.

Agreed with SRH1....I'd definitely be picking up some custom rolled. Not real big on the EL/RE craze. Outside that, probably the ERDM RE for Cuba if still available, and then all the regular production stuff I could carry back!! Literally!!

Correct. Fantastic way to market cigars at a higher price, though there have been a few phenomenal releases. Largely, not worth the extra coin.

Okay. We are going to research where he needs to go and if he can spare the time from the rest of his schedule to visit places.

Cuban REs, LE and LCDH releases are the best deals in Cuba, along custom rolled cigars. Everything else is priced pretty comparably elsewhere. LEs and REs are usally thin on the ground.

The safest, smartest, bet is to send him to the nearest La Casa del Habanos and buy everything with a red secondary band: H Upmann Royal Robustos and Ramon Allones Superiors would be my first two choices.
