It seems that every winter all my mind can focus on is the warm up in the Spring and getting out on a lake or pond to bass fish.

Many other bass fisherman on here?

What are some of your favorite lures, techniques, tips, tricks, etc based on time of year and conditions?

I have a massive amount of lures and soft plastics and it seems like I always end up back with a soft plastic of some sort on my line. It is what I am comfortable with. The only other thing I have any confidence in is a hollow body frog. The only exception to this is when I was fishing in Canada this past summer, all you needed was a white spinner bait when on the river. Just hauled in the pike and bass with them.

When in Canada, we visited this one lake twice and the first time we caught 62 fish between the two of us and the second time we caught 100 between the two of us...all good sized largemouth bass. The best lure we found at this lake was the coffee scented rage craws. We pulled in a fish every 3-4 minutes, almost all in 6-10 feet of water.

Anyone else ever have a subscription to Lucky Tackle Box or Mystery Tackle Box? I did LTB all of last year and got the Bass XL box. I got so many lures from that thing. I wish I had the cash to do it again. Just can't justify another $300 for another year.

Would anyone be interested in doing a bass lure/soft plastic trade similar to the cigar trades? Pick some random lures you don't use anymore, box them up and ship them out. I'm sure I can dig up a bunch of stuff to send out if anyone wants to do a trade.

The one thing I have learned is if it is overcast or dirty water conditions, stick with super dark colors or vibrant colors. If it is clear skies and/or clear water, stick with natural colors.

I always hear the phrase, match the hatch, however I never seem to know what the "hatch" is in the lake I am fishing. So this doesn't really help me much.

I have been "seriously" fishing only for a few years now, but still feel like a super noob, especially when watching all these Youtube videos that are out. So much I don't know and need to learn.

Not sure I qualify, but I love to bass fish. Outside of deer and turkey season, it's my weekend relaxation.

My son, nicknamed Ocho, enjoys it more than I do. Our deer camp is bordered by the Yakanookany river. It's not very big but holds a ton of fish. Ocho begs to sneak away and hit the river.

FGM has one of the best bass lakes I've ever seen. And he's got some toads in there too. Catch a Herf sometime and spend all the time in the lake you want.

Plastics are my go to. I think they are tougher to fish, but yield more results.

Again I'm no pro. I just do it for funsies.

Have fun. Good luck

Hank, come on over and visit bassresource.com sometime. Great bunch there with a LOT of great info...I post as choporoz

Bass fishing sucks the majority of my free time whenever the water isn't hard. Most of my fishing is done from a kayak.
Spent a few months each with LTB and MTB...I quickly learned that, just like samplers here, I get one or two things I like and a bunch of crap I don't. I sorted much of my stuff last month and have a bag of lures (nearly all plastics) that I won't use again -- probably weighs about 15 or 20 pounds. PM me your address (I don't think I still have it) and I'll send some your way.

Yep.......Spring, Summer, Fall.....if not working, bass fishing. Winter.....wishing I was fishing. I second the bassresource.com advice. If you ain't on there, you should be. You'll learn more on there in one day than you can in a whole summer on the water. I'm JadeRose there, too. 95% of my fishing is either Texas rigged plastics, Spinner baits, or my specialty......froggin. I'm pretty damn good at it.

Thanks, I will check out that site. PM Sent.

I do most of my fishing from the shore, but my buddy has a boat that we take out a few times a year. I can't get enough of fishing. That will be my retirement if I ever get to retire. My dream would be to become a professional angler. That would be amazing. Pipe dream though.

I liked most of what I got from LTB, always some junk, but enough good stuff that made it worth it.

Didn't even get out once this year. I usually only go when the barometer is high or on the rise and not when it's windy or rainy. I fish early in the AM or in mid afternoon or later. Find a few good lakes or ponds and the places the bass like to hang out. Some days nothing works, but most times it's very busy.

Found an interesting thread on bassresource (signed up under the same name) about finesse frogging. Gonna have to give this a try whenever it warms up.

I know the one but personally don't do ANY of that. Froggin to me is as close to hand to hand combat as you. can get with a bass. I get into the nasty stuff and throw big, heavy Scumfrogs into heavy slop. There ain't anything finesse about it. Not disagreeing with it...just don't do it

Yeah, I have never considered smaller frogs as everything I have is bigger...but it is worth a try if it brings in more fish.
