one of the mikes on mike and mike was trying to make the same point today. he was very high on his horse and triggered to no end. he even swore a few times.
there is no doubt in my mind that there was some degree of discrimination against "stoopid" blacks at the qb position. but women playing football in general is not exactly the same because the truth of the matter is that men and women are entirely different - literally every cell in our bodies. women dont play football - but not because of discrimination. therefore most dont know the xs and os. that is not to say they couldnt learn them or that they couldnt become great coaching masterminds but, on average, due to either unfamiliarity or disinterest or the simple fact that they dont play the game, most do not know the strategic schemes, routes, etc.
i have had amazing, hardworking, strong, intelligent women in my life and hope my daughter is the same. however, the odds of her being a middle linebacker in the NFL are 0%. and not because she is discriminated against because of her xx. in fact, the odds of her playing football at any level are likely low. and for that reason, i would say the odds of her knowing the xs/os in great detail is reduced as compared to a male who has played.
but that being said, once again, it was a silly comment by newton and an apology in this instance seems like the right thing to do. that female deserves to be taken seriously in her craft and rise by her merits to the highest possible level if applicable.
