We often focus on the negative but here is a good CS story.
I ordered a pair of blue topaz earrings to give my wife at Christmas. I’ve ordered things from Blue Nile for years. Actually this pair will replace a pair I got from there probably a decade ago and she misplaced during our travel.
When they arrived one seemed a little duller than the other and it bothered me a little. Not much difference but enough I noticed.
I called them to tell them I wanted to buy another pair, then compare them and pick the set I want.
They put me on hold for a few minutes and then returned to tell me the new set will be here Tuesday. I asked if she wanted my credit card info or if they still had it. She said no charge.
I agreed and said I’d mail the other pair back as soon as the others arrive. She said “no you don’t understand, you don’t have to return the other set.... keep them. If your wife loses another this way she’ll have a replacement”
I actually argued with her that that wasn’t right. She insisted.
Granted they’ve gotten a lot of my money throughout the years, and I know there is a big mark up but that’s way above and beyond.
Blue Nile has my business.
