I purchased a cheap guillotine cigar cutter with my first order from CBid. Let me say it was definitely made from inferior steel. Today I received my new guillotine cutter I believe I paid $12 for it but it was one of the higher end ones, It’s by Zederkoff. The cheapo Dulled within three cuts. This new one should last me a very long time.

Also on a more serious note, I spent 5 years filing saws for a saw mill, so I know the difference in the steel just by looking at it.

I actually use my cheap black plastic ones most and have been impressed by how well they've held up

I had one of those exact ones. I lost it somewhere between the 11th and 14th hole :(

Lesson learned... don't take Xikar golfing... you'll never lose the cheap plastic ones... but if you take an Xikar, you'll definitely lose it.

Lost a torch a few weeks ago too :/

At least use the cheapos with two blades. Decent for a while. I loose them before they dull. No tears.

You know, if you purchase a more expensive one that you can pull the blades from, you can put a new edge on them with a half moon file.

That may be true. However, I've got a Palio that's close to a decade old .....and a Xikar nearly as old that show no apparent loss of edge. I don't know if recent production of either are as good, but even with slight drop off, they'd be worth the investment....unless you really just lose a lot of them
