I pulled a bonehead move last night while enjoying a cigar watching the Kings hockey game. I picked out a cigar, clipped the head with a guillotine cutter, removed the band and dimmed the lights. After toasting the foot, I lit the cigar and started puffing away. It didn't taste right, not like I remember a LAdC Mi Amor... nor did it feel right.

I turned the lights back up and saw my mistake. I had lit the head of the cigar and was puffing from the foot!!! What an idiot...I had to trim about half an inch off the top, to get past the burnt leaves. But it was salvaged and except for the wrapper unraveling slightly at the new tip, it smoked fine.

LAdC’s, especially the Mi Amor are amazing. Sorry you lit the wrong end.

the only thing I recall doing was not paying attention and sticking the WRONG END in my mouth AFTER it was burning LOL! Minor tongue burn and rapid ashe spitting to follow.

He did the same thing.... Put the foot in his mouth.... but he burned his lips

More than once I have got a strong metallic taste before realizing that big old cigar band on a My Father was burning.

While golfing I often set my cigar down before the shot. Cleat marks on a cigar makes for an EASY draw.

but not since soft spikes, I bet.

I've done this, long ago.......not with a MF though......pretty sure it was a Gurkha Titan unfortunately......... 🤦

Done this quite a few times on many cigars. When I fire it up I now make a mental note "Don't forget to take off the band before nubbing." Even then I still forget from time to time!

How many times I have burnt my fingers trying to get a partially burnt band off a nub. 😣

You know you are really drunk smoking,
when you wake up the next day,
and the band is smoked through on the nub...

And you didn't notice at the time...
