Never been a AB fan but was gifted a couple of these and pleasantly surprised. Yeah on version of this got a #5 Cigar of the year from CA in 2017 but we all know how those things go, especially after the initial release and we start seeing them discounted

Spicy, peppery -especially at first - but not overpowering. Slowly transitions to other flavors with the spice popping back in now and then. Good construction and burn on the ones I had (burn on this is something I have seen criticized in reviews).

Seems that they go for around $3 per or a bit less here on Cbid which is well worth it. These also appearssoften as part of a combo pack deal on the Mothership. If you had your eye on one of those deals for a favorite cigar but didn't know if it was worth having the AB Tempus along with it, I would suggest giving it a try.

Uneven burn was the factor that turned me off to them a few years ago...I may have one or two left ...may pick up a fiver to give them a try again...

In regards to the Tempus, I like the Tempus Nicaragua better than the regular one that received the 94.

not impressed with a lot of AB's offerings, like Filthy Hooligan, Black Market, Sun Grown, Maxx...I did like the Prensado, though

Had the last gifted one of there at lunch. Slight burn issue at start but was outside in a breeze, so have to give it some slack.

Not the #5 cigar in the world last year by any means, but worth the price you can get them on here and on CI deals IMO

haven't cared for the brand since Medalist...was that the name? Used to like them when ever they were around, maybe 10/12 years or so.

Most have been inconsistent in my experience. However based on my preference for small ring gauges and Z's glowing recommendation,I just ordered a box of the Coyol petite lancero.Found a great deal........79.99,plus a 6 stick AB sampler and free shipping........and if I don't like them I know someone who does.

Wow went back to the place I ordered those and now the Coyol petite lancero is backordered. However they have the robusto exact same deal and a couple other vitolas slightly higher.Anyone tried the robusto?

I've had the robusto. Lancero is better in my opinion, but it could just be my preference for smaller ring gauge smokes...

Edit: If you would like to try before you buy, I have a lancero that I will send you.

I remember what a joke it was when the AB Prensado was named the Cigar of the year a few years ago.

We all thought those cigars had fire-proof wrappers because you couldn't keep one lit!

Yeah Alec Bradley cigars are terrible these days, nothing but that cheap tobacco taste in every puff. There Fine and Rare is ok but not much else.

Inconsistency is an issue for a lot of the manufacturers these days. Cbid and CI have special deals with AJ so you see a lot of his cigars around here. I like most of AJ's offerings and his blending "taste" in general, but I just know there are going to be times where a particular "stick" ( and I will use that controversial term here on-purpose) is a stinker.

Great constancy is one of the things I like about the OMB3, Pepin Blues, all Aging Rooms, RP Sun Grown Maduros, LGC Series R and of course Padrons and AFs. Never had a a poorly made or "off taste" one of any of those. Most of those cigars are, of course, generally a lot more expensive than the ones talking about in this thread (Except for The OMB3 on the super-duper-every-now-and-then deal, which is why that deal is so great).

Now a days if you get around a $3 price point, you seem -with most brands- to have to live with inconstancy ranging from he occasional clunker to the whole order being a crap-shoot. Perhaps got lucky with the gifted AB Tempests . All tasted very nice -very close to as described in the glowing 90+ reviews - and only one had a burn issue and that was outside in a strong breeze.

So while I won't be surfing the web to seek them out, if I see a good deal that sends a few my way for $3 a smoke, I would not hesitate to pull the trigger even though from several reviews and the posts here that others have had issues at times with them.

Now to high-jack my own thread, what is YOUR most consistent inexpensive to moderately-priced cigar? You know, ones that you are likely to find a deal on that you never worry about ordering because you can count on them?

Other than ones you named, Melanio, and the regular Oliva V (I know it's not at the $3 point, but you can get them relatively cheap).

I do currently have a box of sub-par Pepin Blues though... glad they are coronas. Been using them as yard gars :/ (first time I got a box of the bummer blues.. and I've burned through my share of them).
