I've smoked plenty of Padillas back in the day, including the Golden Bear.
Just pick pretty much any Connecticut available here, or other places, that cost about the same, and you'll be happy.
Think Perdomo, Cussno, Torano, DE bundled seconds, etc.
If you ask nicely, TonyG or DPNewell might throw you a hot tip on a decent affordable Connie.

I don't smoke Connies often, but when I do it's either a DE Shade, or a Perdomo.

I don't know anything about the Bear cigar. But, for me, if I'm not having a Cuban cigar for breakfast, I love Oliva connies. For the price here, they are a great cigar at a great price.

Other breakfast connies (at least for me) would be UC Shade, and the now defunct DE Olde Penn. Opps, I forgot about Perdomo. You can't go wrong with a Perdomo connie.

I agree with the above, and I'll add the MoW Virtue.....I think they fit the profile as well
