I keep my cigars dry. I like them in the low 60s. Today I'm reorganizing one of my desk tops and find white fuzzy mold on the sides and in the foot of a OR T-52 Rob and a OR Dirty Rat. I wipe it off the best I can, but can't get it all out of the foot. Looks like I'll be smoking both of these today after cutting off some of the foot. How the heck did I get mold in the low 60s?

Ask your local B&M. Then, you can sleep well 'knowing' that its plume....lol

What do you use for humidification? Spores are more mobile than most realize -- lots of passive methods can develop mold even if your humi indicates 65%...only takes a few spores on a sponge/gel blob/bead/..etc to get airborne onto a cigar -- keep a close eye on the rest of the cigars in that humi -- especially any like AF's with cloth on the feet

Lastly, wipe them off and smoke 'em -- smoking a little mold won't hurt -- in fact, as long as its white (not bluish)...and until it gets thick up in the foot, you should be fine

^Yes Dave, I've seen the photos of moldy cigars that folks claim is plume. These two where naked, so I'm assuming that made it easier for the mold to latch on. 99.9% of my cigars are in cello and I've never had mold in a cello wrapped cigar.

I've checked the rest of my naked cigars and they look clean, so I'm smoking these two today as there is a little mold in the foot that I can't clean out. Sure as heck not throwing away a 6 year old T-52 and Dirty Rat especially since they are the OR blends. I'm just glad I caught this before the rest of my naked Ligas, Tats, LFDs, etc. where infected.

I have found this a few times in my glass top humi's but never in my built in.It doesn't make sense to me either.........but it is always a naked stick or one dressed in cedar only.I never run any of my humi's over 63%........never.Anyway I wipe it off and move on,usually planning to smoke that cigar in the near future.

I had a batch of ccs that grew some white mold on them a while back (was only like 3 or 4 of them). I was lucky enough that it didn't reach the feet. Wiped it off and smoked em up so they didn't taint anything else.

dstieger is right though... any time you call out a shop on it, they claim it's plume.

T-52s used to be my favorite special occassion cigar. The last one I had was about a year and a half ago right after I found my Father passed away in his house. There was no way I'd be getting any sleep after that, so I sat out on the back porch at 3 AM and had one in his memory. It was fantastic. The one today was eh. I've read that LP-9s don't age well. I'm starting to think that 6-7 years is too long for the T-52s also. Hopefully the Rat will be better.
