Just tried these on the whim...i like them! good prices too... and at local B and M! only tried a couple so far

Like the Wavell Maduro. Used to chain smoke the minuto maduro when they were made.

gotta be close to ten years, used to smoke a lot of wavell maddies.

Some say LGC's quality/flavor is a mere shadow of what it was. If I recall right, Ernesto Carrillo sold it to one of the giant cigar corporations, and many say the product went downhill a lot after that.

My own memory seems to support this, but it's been many years since I had a pre-sellout one. The recent ones I've had haven't been impressive to my palate though.

I'd advise buying a 5-pack or something and evaluating. Don't jump in and buy a box or more at first until you're sure they aren't lame nowadays.

Smoked a bunch of the maduro wavells too... Didn't care for the naturals much... 😟

The story I read once was that after the sale, Carrillo retained control somehow over the Series R blend but none of the others, hence them coming out with a lot of similar but not quite blends like the Wavell, etc

All I can say is don’t get the serie R Maddies they taste like pepper and cheap tobacco, I like the regular serie R, but this maddies are disgusting.
