Now that we sold the Jersey house, we can finally get a new puppy. I want a Great Dane. The wife wants a labradoodle or a standard poodle. To me, a dog isn't a dog unless it's over 150 lbs. and you can wrestle with him. This is going to be fun. /s

I would go with the standard poodle.

There are tons of adoptable dogs. Adopt a senior dog which has been abandoned, and is harder to find homes for.

There are a number of organizations dedicated to fostering senior dogs until they find homes. In my experience these dogs are well socialized, and most importantly already house trained.

We just did a rescue of a lab/cattle dog mix. Wife name him Cooper, so I said next rescue should be a small dog sober can call it "Mini" :-" ✋

Good luck, brother. Adopt or purchase any breed you want. I wouldn't go as far as saying don't purchase from a breeder,
I'll leave that up to morons from the Ozarks.....

We just lost our little Doxie, Havana, prematurely due to a neurological infection. We wanted to adopt another from our
area with no success so we found a lady in Madison, TN. who's Doxie just had a litter. So.....$400.00 and 1,200 miles
later we are the proud parents of our little Doxie puppy Maddie.

On a side note, the drive thru Knoxville was cool as poop due to the Bassmasters having the classic there.

Donna keeps showing me photos of Goldendoodles. Cute, fuzzy teddy bears, but I'm more interesting in rescuing a Great Dane or another Rotti (if my home owner's insurance allows). After first sharing life with Gus (165 lb. Rotti) and then George (262 lb. English Mastiff), I don't think a 50 - 60 lb. dog is going to do it for me.

My wife and I used to volunteer for the Beagle Rescue of Southern Maryland. If the local Rotti rescue is anything like the
beagle rescue you can offer to foster and they will pay all vet costs till you decide you want to adopt.
