The only ones left at the MB3 site are the small Filerokee size (4.5 x 52) and, as of this post, they are on sale there with free shipping. They are temperamental but worth it. That is the only place that seems to have any of them and all other sizes are sold out.

Niether of these are nearly as good as their cousins up above, but are good smokes and will no doubt be gone eventually at MB3, but they have all sizes available.

Picked up one of these for $3 at the "Tenskie" place during their singles sale a few weeks ago to try it out. Only had a couple of weeks rest before I tried it. Normally would wait a few months but wanted to test it out to see if worth getting more. As it turns out the "Tenskie" place sold out of them during the single sale, however, on that site "sold-out" often just means that they sold all the ones they want to at that price right now - so they may be back. A search found them at at least one other location. I can't tell you where, you will Just have to Research it yourself...

This was a 60 ring smoke -much larger than I usually prefer, but tried to not let that influence my review. The first inch or so was very harsh and bitter. So much so that I was wondering if I would finish it. However, it got better after that bad start. A bit of salt and spice, some mild pepper at times, a bit savory. Not bad at all flavor-wise after that first bit. It burned very uneven from the start and no amount of attempts at correction would fix it (an issue I saw from some other reviews). Surprisingly, for such a big cigar, there was very little smoke. Proper rest might have fixed the harsh start and maybe the burn issue, so it might be worth it for some if the price is right, but I would not get it again.

Please explain why the Filero(kee) Chief Cool Arrow is "temperamental" and why they need a lot of "care and pampering" to enjoy? Temperamental how? What kind of care and pampering?

All I noticed so far about these is "don't smoke on a rainy or humid day" and "smoke very slowly", maybe with a side order of "dry box them for awhile before smoking".

Um, er, everything you mentioned makes them "temperamental." The fact that they overheat easily if you don't smoke very slowly, the fact that the weather affects them far more than other cigars, the fact that you should take an extra step of dry boxing to get the most enjoyment from them. All that = temperamental & "Care and Pampering" in my book.

Also add that the shape/size makes prone to uneven burn if you are not very careful about how you go about lighting it and nursing it at the start of the smoke. A lot like the Short Story in this regard, perhaps even more so. You can usually prevent it from burning uneven by lighting it very carefully, watching your draw and rotation at the start, and being ready for minor touch ups as the burn spreads from the little tip. Also helps to have no breeze going on while this is happening.

Basically, you have to devote your full attention to this cigar the entire time (and even before!) you are smoking it.

Now, that is all worth it to me for a great cigar and I have bought a bunch of them, but that certainly makes them fall in the temperamental category.

The MC3 Roxxos, on the other hand, have none of these issues that I have found and are also a great cigar. Much more "user friendly" and needs much less of the above "care and pampering" to enjoy fully, so I have bought a bunch of them as well.

I’m not speaking for MidMo, but my experiences with both the Filerokee and Ranflajo support his statement somewhat.
I’ve smoked about a half a box of each thus far.
About half of them had minor to moderate burn issues (canoeing).
And the Filerokees can be temperamental with respect to keeping them burning for optimal draw and flavor without getting them too hot, which in the second half, is easy to do.

No big deal for me, I’ve found similar issues with some Best Sellers and Short Stories.
It’s a tricky vitola for the rollers to get right every time.

I can't even picture in my mind how you DO roll those things.

Heh! I never gave it much thought, but now that you mention it.............., it’s pretty dang amazing, especially the Filerokee and the Short Story.

Room101 FARCE Habano

Just had my first one of these yesterday. It was the Lonsdale (6.5"x42) size and was VERY good. This is one of Matt's new offerings so its not one of the closeout-special deals. The price on the Mothership and related sites is pretty steep, although you can find the robustos at least here on Cbid regularly.
