Indianapolis Colts fans booed Andrew Luck after he announced his retirement after a series of injuries and lengthy rehabilitation processes took the joy away from the game. Maybe part of his rationale was to remove himself from a bunch of heartless and selfish people...

Luck puts his name up with a list of great players who decided to hang them up while in their primes: Barry Sanders, Jim Brown, Sandy Koufax, Bo Jackson

I’m fine with his decision, it’s his to make.

The timing is very hurtful to the organization, should have been done before the draft or after this season.

I won’t ever “hate” on luck for his choice but I have zero respect for the timing.

Definatly hurt Indy, but no matter what the timing they weren't going anywhere without him. Perhaps the timing will work to their advantage. They will be bad enough this year that they might land another great quarterback in the next draft. I think the miss diagnosis of his shoulder injury and his present ankle injury weigh heavy on his decision.

I wonder if the reaction in Indy would have been different if Schefter had not tweeted out mid game. Fans are passionate and in the moment it had to hurt a lot.

I don’t think he had actually announced his retirement when he was leaving the field and the fans were booing but word may have leaked out via social media. Regardless, no class on those fans that did boo him.

I get that Colts fans were disappointed / frustrated with the somewhat mysterious calf injury but it’s not like the guy didn’t give it his all when he was healthy. Luck never really had a good offensive line early in his career so all those sacks and hits just kept on adding up. It’s a wonder he didn’t suffer a major injury then.

Edit: just saw Spey’s post about Adam Schefter’s post.

It's a wierd spot because Indy had such a bad O line they probably cost Luck a ton of years. On the other hand Luck signed a large contract with a decent amount of guaranteed money for 1 year of services. I get that Lick needs to move on for the betterment of himself but there are a lot of aspects from the move that hurts the franchise for not only now but the future as well.

I don't blame fans for booing or Luck for retiring. Its life and both sides expressed their feelings.

I think he worked to get back from other stuff to play this season, but the recent weird lower leg small bone growth stuff may be why his decision is so late in coming.

Don’t think so.

You ever play football? Ever get hit by someone weighing 50 to 100 pounds more than you? Numerous times within a 3 hour period? For 7 years? Most normal people would quit after 1 game, let alone 86. You can’t be no p.u.s.s.y to play pro football.

There were as many or more cheers as there were boos. Some in the stadium didn't even know there were boos. I was a bit pissed at the announcement Saturday during the game. The one aspect that hasn't been talked about enough is why tweet it out then? Seems the timing could have waited until after the game. Makes me think somebody within the organization wanted exactly that walk off and planned the timing with Adam so he could break it. That's the BS IMO.

Reports are Luck wanted to announce Friday. He was told to wait until Sunday. Then this happens.

Timing retirement isn't fairy tale when you're injured. My guess is that he had full intent to play this year and this ankle thing turned into a much bigger problem than what it originally thought to be was and whatever the option was to fix it had him say regretfully I've had enough after every other injury he's had to rehab. Luck has to personally know some former players growing up watching his dad that can barely walk now toughing things out in their playing days. At some point walking away from millions becomes a lot easier when you already have millions if thinking about future quality of life.

Some times bad luck with the injury bug sucks.

Ok. Maybe he’s not a total fucquin pu.s.s.y.
But if down the road, we hear of his decision to transition to a woman, I think you owe me some smokes.
