Is there much of an accent difference from state to state in your neck of the woods. A friend of mine is moving to Vermont in a couple of months and I am curious.

like a lot of places, there are regional and even local differences. Western MA folks probably don't sound that much like Boston people, who have a couple of variant strains among them as well.
Beacon Hill Brahmins don't sound that much like kids who grew up in the North End (mostly Italian) or Southie (mostly Irish).
Not sure if I could describe typical Cow Hampshire, but Maine is not like Eastern MA.

Chunks of Rhode Island and CT have a New York influence.

Vermont is big and people are spread out. Been there many times but never felt they sounded anything but normal to me.

NH has a lot of Fahm Country....Lots of fresh Ayuh and sunshine....northern Nh accent is much different than southern NH accent.....now I'm gonna sit down and have lunch....I'm having a tonic and a grindah...

That one varies by state. Grew up in Ohio with pop. Went to school in NW Indiana where they only had soda

grew up with tonic...but that has just about vanished in favor of soda.

I work with a guy who still uses tonic, and when he said it, I knew right away he was a Masshole.....(I use soda too)
