a pal just got back from costa rica and brought back a couple soleares. one looks like a robusto and another looks like a 6x46 or so.

i tried looking up the brand on the net but found very little info. anybody ever hear of these? are they good smokes?

I found a couple of sites on the web ... which you probably also found. This is what they claim ... and if it's redundant, please accept my apology.

i'm gonna fire up the lonsdale tonight and post my thoughts tomorrow.

i decided to fire up the robusto last night... and i'm sorry to say i was underwhelmed.

the problems started almost right away. the wrapper start coming undone after i cut it.

it fired ok. had a decent draw. but there was a very sharp, almost chlorinated taste.

maybe i should have let them sit. i'm gonna leave the lonsdale in the humie at least for a few months.

Sorry to hear that. I got a box of Soleares robustos from CBid last month. I had read a very positive review of the "reserve" line on another web site but maybe they're better or maybe the review was phoney. I'll post my opinion when I smoke one.

Finally got around to sampling one of these. Sorry to say this is another one for the compost heap.

I recently bought a box of 24 Soleares Petite cigars (5 3/8x44) from an old guy in Virginia. The cigars have been sitting in his basement since 2001 @ 65/65 with 26 other boxes and bundles. I smoked one of them after a 2 week rest in my humidor. I was quite impressed with the taste and the burn. A slightly sweet caramel flavor with a woodsy, creamy finish. The burn was perfect.
I found this thread thru a Bing search and read through it. It seems that others have had a different experience with this brand of Costa Rican cigar. Maybe they just have to be aged for 15 years. 🤨
