Been a tough week. Mom had been in and out of the hospital battling heart and lung issues for most of this year. At 82 she has had a strong run. Still kept her wits and was still driving up until two months ago. She was in the hospital last week when they found two leaking valves and were planning on micro surgery to clip them Tuesday. On Sunday I got a call from siblings that things were tanking quickly and I needed to get home fast.
The nurses at the hospital keep her alive until all of our siblings (6 of us) could arrive from various points. Ultimately her lungs failed and stopped working completely. She died late Sunday night surrounded by her children and half her grandchildren.

I wanted to share a special thank you to the staff and nurses of the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at St. Francis Hospital in Manhasset, NY. I could not have asked for better care, compassion and professionalism. They were amazing and we were blessed to have then take care of Mom.

Prayers for you and your siblings... Great hospital staff are always a comfort in these situations... Glad they gave their all...

my brother died earlier this year, and I too, felt gratitude for the doctors and nurses in the Cardiac Care and the ICU at Los Alamitos Medical Center ... they were totally professional and yet so compassionate in knowing and understanding our grief...

I sent them a thank you card, on behalf of our family...
