Hello. I'm considering buying a box of Montecristo No.4 Cubans from 2009 from a company in Europe. They're more expensive than fresher ones on other websites. Presumably they've been kept at the proper humidity (I'll check for sure). Are these going to be better because they're aged for 10 years? Any drawbacks? Thank you

From my experience Monte is pretty inconsistent. 1 will be great and then 3 duds. I'd have a real hard time paying a premium on them. Honestly I have a hard time spending anything on them though when much better options imo.

If it's a cardboard pack of five 5 packs, go ahead and take a chance. I won't buy Montes in dress boxes anymore because of too many plugged sticks. In fact, I won't buy any CCs in dress boxes anymore except for RA Superiores. 90% of the problems I've had with CCs (plugged sticks, mold) have been from dress boxes.

Also the No.4 is the most produced cc there is, known to have the most issues.

That being said 09’ is a good year for tobacco

Petite Edmundo are great and have had zero construction issues. Same with no. 5, tasty little buggers. Other than that, I've been sort of sticking to no. 1 and especials and some double edmundos, and been avoiding buying more no. 2, the torps can be problematic. The no. 1's I've had are easily the best out of the marca.

How much of a premium do they want for their aged cigars?

I like the Petite Edmundo's and Edmundo's....#2's are just priced too high and arent all that

I don't know if you're new to Cubans, but don't pull a hnixon and try smoking them all ROTT, give them a month or two at least to acclimate and get down to a lower humidity (most vendors seem to ship slightly overhumidified) and you'll help avoid having a box of tent poles. As others have mentioned, Montes are over-produced and pushed out the door, and I tend to think sometimes that leads to cigars that are just not ready to smoke yet. That being said, all my recent Monte purchases have smoked well with little rest.

Pancakes but only if they're wrapped around a bratwurst.
Yes I do enjoy long legged women on the beach.
Ellie Mae had more depth. Daisy Mae was...I don't know...just so two dimensional.
The ones for the far future cello on. The ones for the near future cello off.
David or Sammy? You must be younger than me.
Olan or Toler? Christ you must be old as me!
No but I went to Catholic school. So...yea sorta.
Victor Mature. He is to gladiators what Sean Connery is to 007's
The former is a little more tender. I find the latter way too chewy.
Women. But then the other hand there's that whole gladiator thing.
Wad or fold? Are you talking about undergarments or...something else? (In which case that would be very personal!)
Depends on the height of the throne.
They used to. But now I have my special pills.
Butter or Margarine? It IS the age old question.

Points awarded for the dogs/cats response, but then deducted for skipping Ginger/Maryann entirely. It's a wash

About $30 more per box.

Go for it! That's not a large amount of extra $ for a ten year old box of Monte #4's. A dress box of #4's should run you around 255 euros from a reputable dealer in Europe. 🌫

Sorry I overlooked that one. Definitely Maryann. Much prettier plus I always had a thing for brunettes.
