Well I've had 4 pins in my hip since I was 14 and I'm finally gonna throw in the towel and get my hip replaced. Arthritis is unbearable, making my job and sleep very difficult.Doctor is awesome, said I'm gonna regret not doing it sooner.Monday the 9th is the big day, excited and a little scared.Just curious what I have to look forward to.

my mother, now 99, had her hip and then her knee done over a 10 year stretch. She says the hip was much easier to deal with and recover from...

a couple of friends now in their mid 60's had it done in recent years and are very happy they did.

I have a few friends and relatives who had hips replaced. Weird to me, but every single one of them was pleased with the procedure, the recovery and the outcome. Never heard a bad word about it.

^^ Same deal, the few people I know who have had the procedure have been very happy with the process and the results

It’s an archaic surgery with a relatively short turn around.

You can’t supinate (twist) the joint for some time after surgery because the risk of dislocation from the tendons being removed/put back.

None of this for you:

I had a left hip replacement Tuesday. Not a big deal so far. Have a fair amount of discomfort when moving about. Very little to none when sitting. Doing my business on the toilet is a challenge. Sitting down and rising from any chair can be a challenge. I have to be mindful of all my movements. If moving that way hurts...dont. I really dont know much more as it is early. Boredom is already taking over. Luckily there are some distractions with the PT, OT, Nursing type people who are already bombarding me with endless instructions.

Bassman I hope all goes well. I have not, but have two friends who have and both were back playing golf better than ever in 4-6 weeks. Both said they were sorry that had put up with the pain for as long as they had.
Good luck bro.

Tonygraz didn't tell us about you, spared you a lot of razzing, for sure.
Do the rehabbing, it will work.

at least a couple who have posted had knees done.
