I look at those as a cross between a wok and carbon steel pan. Some of the best food I've ever had came off of a taco cart in Mexico City that the dude was cooking in one of these.

He cooked the meat in the center and warmed the tortillas around the rim. Served those. Wiped it out with a wet towel, poured in oil, got it hot and fried french fries, served those, scooped the oil out into a metal can and cooked more meat and tortillas. Repeat.

It was culinary ballet. I sat there in stunned amazement at what that guy did in that simple cooker.

They heat up fast, and they'll get hotter than blazes. I think they'd be handy for that kind of cooking once you learned it's idiosyncrasies.. My wife said I could have one if I got rid of some smokers, grills, and turkey fryers. I'm stalled at this point.

My back yard has a pellet smoker, a propane grill, a WSM, and a turkey fryer... I've been wanting one of those blackstone griddles.

Delta, I would agree with your assessment. My problem is that I don't have a wok, don't know that I need one but I really want one. Fire Disc seems to have advantages in that it is portable and you use it outdoors. Stay tuned.

Gunner, wife has not said no and has not demanded that I lose one of the green eggs or the gaser that she wanted a couple of years ago. Needless to say she has never turned it on but I put it to use when I don't feel like firing one of the eggs. I can envision the Fire Disc producing some great stir fry and Mongolian BQ.

Know a couple of folks that have the Blackstone griddle but I have not gotten the urge to date. FYI, my turkey fryer is in a box on top of a cabinet in the garage.

One of my neighbors was cooking over a camp fire in what looked like a wok... turns out it was a disk from a harrow.. or big tiller... he welded up the hole in da center then used a grinder till smooth.. he gave me one but i haven't welded or cleaned it up yet... 😟

That is where the concept stared from, a plow disc.

that it would, and if you make those, and similar dishes, often, it'll be worth it...especially since it's portable and outdoor, you'd be the envy at any tailgate party or family picnic...

No one round here hauls off their used disc from tandems and one ways. They make great fire disc......just fill the center hole with steel roughly the same thickness, weld it in then grind it smooth. We make a huge batch of goose fajitas every year after the big family and friends hunt...…….that disc is like magic.

I have one of the earlier 36" / 4-burner blackstones, it's awesome. 85lb steel plate cook top makes for some very even heat once you warm it up slowly.

The only critique I can come up with is very minor, it's that because it's collapsible, the base will rock from side to side a little bit, doesn't affect performance, but 4 cheap c-clamps from Harbor Freight pretty much eliminates the sway.

Been wanting to add a plow disk to the armada, just hasn't been a priority.

Don’t know about the fire disc, but I have a ring of fire the day after eating hot spicy Mexican food.
Burns, but it’s oddly satisfying...
