My 10 year old 55" Sony Bravia sounds pretty good but I'm sure a sound bar would improve things for my old ears.

Thinking of something in the range of $100- $250. I'm not looking for a high-end unit. I don't plan to hook up any other devices to it, just the TV.

Suggestions?

I vote you go the full on surround. Tower speakers, corner speakers, ceiling speakers, subwoofers (that's right. plural)

Of course you will need to rethink your budget

The woofer makes a HUGE difference for movies, youtube music vids, concert DVDs, etc

The Vizio's with the sub are damn good for the price imo.

got a Yamaha YSP 1400 (virtual surround) sound bar mounted on the wall below a Samsung 42" LED in the master bedroom...great sound that can more than fill the approx 400sq ft room...very rarely crank it up, but the dual built-in bass speakers provide enough punch to make a subwoofer unnecessary...

about $230 at Costco 4 years ago...

Got an RCA $59 ONE at Walmart about 3 years ago for $19.99 on Black Friday...works well but my nephew installed it and I can't make it work now on this new TV???

I hit every button on each remote...nothing...

Oh well...

When it worked it was very good...
I think the wires are hooked up wrong?
