The purpose of bidding is to get a good deal. Too many bidders run it up to the retail price and still have to pay shipping on top of that. If you cannot save at least 25% off the retail price, you shouldn't be here. Go on to a reputable web site and compare the price with what you are bidding for. That should help reign in the over exuberance.[frypan]

it has been a few days since someone has made a thread about overbidding, so I guess we were due.

Listen M@d, I don't like you or the things you stand for. This here is a prestige site where the higher you bid the more nuts you got and the more you can brag to your buddies about how much you paid for your cigars.

25% off? You must be one of those who keeps the lights on for the rest of us. I usually aim for 80 - 90% off.

Over bidding is showing others your financial strength, and of course the more you pay, the better the cigar will be, no matter what brand or size. For example, a cigar that normally sells on CI for $8 per single is no challenge. Coming to C-Bid and bidding $12 to start with a $20 top virtually assures, you will get the pick of the litter. I've heard from the "insiders" that there is a special section in the warehouse where the cigar overlords store the best cigars from each shipment. The people who end up with those, guys like me who overbid. LOL

Actually, in reality, I'm the cheapest bastage on this forum. Over my 40 plus years of smoking cigars on a daily basis, I've had the chance to try them all, from the dog sticks to the chump sticks. What it all boils down to is simple. Taste is subjective, very subjective. There's one super premium brand that's been around for a fairly long time, and it's extremely popular among smokers world wide. I've tried their cigars over and over and I just don't care for them. Even if they were 3 bucks a stick, I wouldn't buy them. If I told you guys the name of said brand, you'd perma ban me from all further discussions. LOL We all like what we like and that's all that matters.

Me, I've been a huge AJF fan since day one when his stuff started to be sold on CI, et all. To this day, his cigars make up 90% of what i smoke now. Like i said, it's all subjective. First time poster, long time reader. Have a great weekend everyone.

Cherry picked the quote, but this is spot on! I concur 100%. When I got here I was shamelessly smoking Drew Estates. At the time, I really enjoyed them. However, thanks to the beat downs and bombs I've been exposed too, I've moved on.

Regardless of all that, why in the name of all that is Holy would you not smoke what "you" enjoy? Who gives a damn what somebody else thinks is the way, if you don't like it, sphincters are sphincters.

Smoke what you like and make no apologies. Right on!

It’s all of those rich guys taunting us. Money means nothing to them. They read the threads here and laugh. It is sick. They light their cigars with $100 bills.

Newbie here...I'm heading for cover as soon as I hit send lol, so what I've gleaned from this informative thread is try to over pay on the cheapest cigars but secretly try getting "your favorites" as cheap as possible, but don't tell anyone you got a good deal if you are well off.
