I'm kinda new at this, so please be kind.

It is my understanding that cigars purchased from reputable local cigars stores have been properly aged and they can be smoked immediately.

What about cigars bought on CigarBid? Can they be smoked immediately, or do they need to be aged?

Simple answer is yes and yes

Yes they are good to go

And yes you can age them as well if you like

Now, as to your questions.............yes and no.
Just because you’re buying a cigar from a brick and mortar shop doesn’t guarantee it has been “aged” properly.
The shop owner might have got them in 2 days ago, and 90% of them will happily sell it to you.

Anything you buy online? Could be fresh off the boat, or years old.......just depends.
In any case, let anything that has come to you via mail, UPS, etc, rest them a week for every day of transport (unless it’s humidified transport)........maybe freeze it too if you like.

Well, well, well.

All my cigars go in the freezer for 3 days, the refrigerator for 1, then (and only then) into the humidor. Once there I let them sit at least 2 weeks to acclimate and stabilize. Then if it's something I'm dying to try I'll fire one up.

Most cigars are shipped over humidified and only the great cigar lord knows what happened to them en-route.

As a side note...in 20 years of getting cigars here,I have never frozen them...never had a single beetle. I have also smoked many mere days after receiving a shipment and can count on one hand the total issues I have ever experienced from here.

The only place I have ever had to deal with over humidified cigars was from junior's place.

As a general rule of thumb I let everything age for at least a month.

Now that I think about it, I learned that in a movie about Che Guevara, who was a definite cigar afficionado.
