Some other excellent renditions.

Marvin Gaye:

(At Woodstock, listen to the cheers.)

The story of the Star Spangled Banner:

When your navy has such bad shooters that the enemy literally makes their anthem about how you missed their flagpole.

Willie was such a talented artist. I’ve always contended that he coulda been so much more but maybe that just wasn’t his thing.

Yup. Like I said, that man was so TALENTED! Singer, songwriter, musician, the man had it all. Although I consider Robert Cazimero to have the finest voice in Hawaii, Willie had such great range that depending on genre, I would pick him to be #1.

Back in the early ‘90s, Willie and Amy G. were waiting for a flight to Maui at the same gate as me. Willie was into his Johnny Cash look so was all decked out in black. He was a fairly big guy so with his long trench coat and 10 gallon cowboy hat, he looked pretty intimidating. Smoked cigarettes like a chimney too (...back when you still could publicly smoke in places like airports...).

Holly Cow! That is the one I was looking for when I got the idea for this post. I had heard it before and really like that rendition.

Thank you very much.

Marvin Gaye, another great performer we no longer have. 😞

Boston Bruins following the Marathon Bombing incident.

My then-14 year old daughter went to this game despite our worries. (it was prior to catching Tsnaraev and nobody knew for sure what was going on in the city). The Bruins lost the game (to Buffalo?) but it will remain her all time favorite and I'm jealous I didn't go.
