We need a law change drinking and driving, if it’s legal for “protesters” to loot and destroy public, private, government property. I should be legally aloud to drink and drive. Yes, I may end up killing your family or maybe just your child or wife, husband, grandson etc, or hitting and destroying public, personal, or government property. But understand when I went to the bar I never intended on getting drunk to the point where I realized I could not drive. How is that my fault, I was over served. (Stomps foot and walks away, to go sulk in my safe place with my stuffed teddy).

Your probably reading this and saying wow this is ignorant, now you know how most of you sound everyday.

.... what dumb facebook post did you get this off?

This implies that it is legal anywhere to "loot and destroy public, private government property".

You're a moron if you think the current protests has made any of this legal.

What? I thought they were peaceful? Isn’t looting and destroying property peaceful? I thought some people kept saying what the police and feds were doing was so wrong!?

Untold numbers of people got away free with this type of behavior and will not be punished in any capacity, therefore might as well be legal to peacefully (destroy and steal) , as some people see it.

The above has absolutely nothing to do with either your initial statement or my response. I will ignore it, as it is irrelevant.

a poor argument wrote:

"they got away with it, therefore it's essentially legal" is a terrible argument. Also has nothing to do with changing the law. They didn't get away with it because it's suddenly legal. They got away with it because when thousands of people are protesting and the police were too busy to catch them all.

If you want to get 1000 of your closest friends together, drain a 5th each and go joyriding drunk around town, I'm sure a large percentage of you will get away with illegally drinking and driving. You will have proven nothing, but will feel like life treated you fairly. Go for it.

edit - amusing you used the term "untold numbers"... it literally could be 1 person. Just means you have no idea whether its a lot of people or a couple.

Me thinks someone has already started the drinking part of this quest today. . .

I'm all for finding and prosecuting looters and rioters. I'm also all for very strict punishment for drunk drivers. I'd add that countless people "get away" with drinking and driving already, so no law change would be necessary.

Mostly I think some one pounded some drinks, got irritated and decided to come on here and start some chit. I don't have a dog in this fight, but know that 2 wrongs don't make a right. Divisiveness is a plague that we are all suffering through now, and the answer is found somewhere in honest understanding dialogue not in throwing absurd barbs at one another.

Damn. Getting off my soap box now. Gonna go have a beer and stay at home. maybe smoke a pipe as well.
