Try Christopher Moore

Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal

In the Bible Christ is born and doesn't show up again until he's about 27. This book describes his adventures during those lost years.

Bloodsucking Fiends - Series

Just to give you a taste. In Bloodsucking Fiends, I believe it's in book 2.... there is a fat vampire cat roaming the streets of San Francisco who creates an army of vampire cats. I've both read and listened to the Audio books. I highly recommend the audio books. The actors playing the different characters add a whole new hilarious dimension. I was crying every time the Chinese grandmother spoke. She only knows English phrases from watching gangsta rap videos. She thinks saying "What's up my n1gga" is the same as Hello.

I wouldn't call Christopher Moore dark or dry... He's a hilarious author... but it's never really dark.

Fat, vampire cats in SF. That does have some potential. Thanks.

Watched the two seasons of Patriot on Prime. Humor Vermouth.

Watched Ricky Gervais Netflix series "After Life" and his most recent standup "Humanity." Both good dark comedy imo.
