Last few orders of Macs (Golds and White Inspirados) have been rolled so tight you'd kill a child throwing it out the window and the draw has been awful with the amount of sucker stems I'm finding. Just wondering if they've developed some quality issues lately - anybody else have this issue?

I believe it is just wrong to throw a child out the window

What if the child was asking for it?

I’ve always had problems getting a good draw on a child, but the nose is great.

and if 20 BOTL's here say Macanudo's are also overpriced and overrated and not that great a smoke what will you do? STOP wasting your money on over hyped brand stogies. Switch to Man O' War Virtue, Ave Maria Immaculata, CAO Black, Alec Bradley Caribbean Cask, Hoyo Excalibur, or HC Series Connecticut just to name a few and forget these silly questions. You can get ALL of these blends here at CBid for $3 per cigar, 99% of the time much less. God loves you and so do I!

Lately? They've always been pretty much a joke to serious cigar guys. Step up to better stuff.

Also, 24132413 is right in the post above mine. My set of favorite cheapies differs from his a bit, but they're similar in spirit, all great bang-for-buck sticks that don't get marketing hype. Those are the kinds of cigars you have to find, along with the occasional higher-priced stick that's actually excellent (not just hyped to be excellent while actually "meh").

But seriously, move on from Macanudo, would be my suggestion. Want something to start with? Try Espinosa's 601 line, for example the red label, blue label or maybe the 601 Steel. You can get these for less than a Macanudo and they're far, far better.

A Macanudo Maduro was the ice breaker that started me on smoking hand rolled real cigars. That said, it didn't take long to learn there are much better ones to choose from. Can't comment on QC issues since I don't think I've had one in over 20 some years.

So what's the point of my post you ask? Good question. I don't have a good answer. Just procrastinating from doing homework and fixing a flat tire.

When I first started smoking cigars I used to love me a Duke of Windsor Cafe...

Now I am way too fancy for that swill.

I smoked a Mac Inspirado Red recently and thought it was pretty good and not at all expensive.

I went through a Mac cafe phase. I outgrew it once I discovered flavor

From back when I smoked them, they were exactly as advertised. I don't remember them as having any construction issues and were pretty steady from stick to stick. I can only comment on the ones I had: Mac Maduro, Mac Gold, Mac Cafe. All are characterized on the mild side which I learned that I didn't prefer. After I had Partagas Black, I moved on to stuff on the bolder side and didn't venture much further with the Mac lines. (Most of the pool halls and bar selections of cigars are from companies like General Cigar. Unless you go to a smoke shop you don't get much variety or stuff from smaller labels).

Others may like Mac so who am I to say they are wrong? They are just too mild and bland for my tastes. To each their own.

#metoo. Part Black followed up with a LA Aurora Untamed finished me on the mild end of things. I tried a couple more times but it just wasn't the same. My neighbor likes them though, so at least the ones I have left will be enjoyed

Yeah, I think they are a good cigar that gets the ball rolling for many people. I don't think they claim to be anything they are not. After all, The Rolls Royce of Cigars tag line is already taken.
