In truth though I am worried for Louisville I think Portland will be hit worse. I wish the Portland mayor, Oregon AG, et al did their damn jobs.

SO the cops didn't bust into her house in the middle of the night, without announcing it? Didn't they shoot her to death when there wasn't even a warrant for her arrest? If not then who shot her?

Seriously asking. I have only heard bits of the story and haven't really researched it. If they didn't do that then why in the world would they give her family 12 million dollars as compensation?

Anyone know?

her residence was suspected of having a large amount of drugs within...her former boyfriend dealt drugs...

police in plainclothes serving a night-time warrant broke open the front door of her apartment after midnight and upon entry, were shot at by Taylor's current boyfriend, injuring one officer...

three police officers returned fire, killing Taylor...

the warrant was not a no-knock, but had been changed to a knock and announce...

there's some dispute about whether the police knocked and announced before breaking in...police said they did...eleven witnesses said they didn't...

Taylor's boyfriend said he didn't hear any announcement and believed it was a home invasion...

no drugs were found

Legally, a warrant is only as good as the info available and relied upon at the time it was issued. Whatever occurs afterwards is irrelevant, in terms of warrant legitimacy. You cannot reference anything that occurs after the issuance of the warrant to reach "back" and validate the warrant. I want to see the warrant and underlying evidence allegedly relied upon. Having said that, I do think the guy had the right to defend himself and the home regardless whether the warrant was no knock or knock and announce, based on what I know of so far.
