Brothers, I feel like I am at a breaking point. As many if not all of you know I am an emotional person who cares deeply for all people.
I know there is help on the way in the form of vaccine, but I think a herd immunity level will not be reached till August or September. So many people around the world see their lives crumbling through no fault of their own. I am not really talking about politics, or SARS-COVID2, I am talking about pain and hopelessness.
I truly am one of the fortunate. I survived this, with no long term neurological damage. We do everything we can to help in tangible ways. Yet I feel the weight of the world on my shoulders.
I suppose this is a pity post, shame on me. I thought to start this post as a way to vent, release anguish, whatever, might be good for all of us as a pressure release valve.

Many have none or at best a poorly thought out worldview that can't stand up to challenge

Doesn't make you immune to dysthymia but helps from spiraling hopelessness

I hear you loud and clear. My family has been fortunate. Both wife and I had it in June and had mild symptoms. No long term effects. Others not so lucky. We both work at “essential “ jobs and have weathered the storm well.
We chose to try and make a difference locally. Do something good for one person, one family. Volunteer to help at a shelter or food bank. Do something good for someone less fortunate. Do it once, then do it again. Help where you can. Give if you can. It helps mentally.
Don’t give up on physical activity either. Get outside when and where you can. It all contributes to your well being. Do not give up. Don’t despair. Even a small act of kindness goes a long way. Brighten someone’s day.
You got this. Our parents and grand parents made it through the Great Depression and the Spanish flu. We will make it through this and learn from our mistakes.

I hear ya Spey. I'm immersed in this stuff professionally then can't get away from it at home or even in here. To top it off my 24 year old daughter caught it when she was in NY. She's living with us now and it really effed with her schooling. Pretty much cost her the semester. But worse she is losing hair by the handful and we think she may have had a couple mild strokes. One just recently and we are expecting more. She asked me to find a doc that specializes in long term effects and I had to answer there is no such thing. We are all learning. I do have a couple leads though.

Meanwhile while hearing and seeing much worse scenarios and seeing the real data and analysis on a daily basis I'm supposed to remain patient with idiot deniers or minimizers as if somehow their stupid arguments should be weighted as much as the truth I see every day. It's frustrating. I'm all for accepting opposing views politically or otherwise and it is in my nature to let the argument occur and maybe learn something or even change my view. But this has gotten beyond stupid. Some flu. I'm sorry but I don't have the patience for the stupidity on this subject anymore and am not going to pretend or be nice.

And Spey I agree with madspackler. We will get there and I am optimistic. There is a light.
